Obituary of Terry Scott O'Brien

After a courageous, hard-fought battle, Terry passed away on April 30, 2023. He leaves behind his loving wife of 42 years Joan, his son Matt who idolized him, grandchildren Damon (Kir), Dylan and Alyssa and great grandchildren Jax, Meridith and Emerson. He will also be missed by his siblings Randy (Joan), Lynne (Dave), and Kym, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Terry is predeceased by his parents Paul and Lois, his son AJ and brother Shawn.

Terry worked for 42 years at Hodgeson Custom Rolling as head of maintenance. He also loved to fish and had his own custom rod building shop for years in Chippawa. But his true love was trains. He had many adventures travelling and going out with his extended family in the NRHA Train Club. From photographing trains to lunch dates and meetings, these are only a few memories that always brought a smile to his face.

Joan and Matt would like to thank everyone who was there for Terry. To family, friends, Doctors, Nurses and paramedic, your love, caring visits, thoughtful words and prayers mean so much to the family. There are no words to say how grateful they are to all of you. In accordance with Terry’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be announced. Arrangements are entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. Memorial donations may be made to the Walker Family Cancer Center.

To Joan and family.

Our deepest condolences. Terry will be greatly missed by all his friends at the CRHA Niagara Division. He served us well. A Past President, a very dependable chauffeur on many of our trips, and always brought the best and spiciest snacks for our tailgate parties while on the road,

A great picture of Terry in 2008 while on a trip with the boys in Kitchener – taken by Dave “Captain” Howard.

In loving memory ...
I/we pledge to make a memorial donation.
