Obituary of Michael (Mike) Petrykowski
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Michael (Mike) Petrykowski, at the age of 59, on December 11, 2022. Loving and proud father to Jordan (Makayla) and Joshua Petrykowski, and thrilled grandfather to Jordan and Makayla’s son Xander and their second child on the way. Beloved spouse of Pamela Agostino for 18 great years, and amazing stepfather to Michael (Rachel) and Shannon Agostino. Cherished son to Henry (Hank) and Jean Petrykowski (St. Catharines). Mike leaves behind his dearly loved sisters, Lori (David) Ashdown (Sarnia) and Teresa (Philip) Suda (Fonthill). He will be lovingly remembered by his niece Elizabeth (Joe) and nephews Nicholas, Justin (Michelle) and Michael (Lacey). Mike will be immensely missed by aunts and cousins in both Canada and the U.S.A. He will be sorely missed by many childhood and lifelong friends and coworkers from GM which he considered to be his work family. There are not nearly enough words to describe what a remarkable man Mike was. He will be remembered most for his intelligence, affectionate nature, authenticity, fantastic sense of humour and his ability to capture you with a story. He was a hard worker and a skilled tradesman, working as a Cutter Grinder at General Motors from the age of 18 until his well-earned retirement in 2019. He enjoyed travelling to places where he was able to play cards, eat great food and have an ice-cold beer. Some of his favourite destinations included Las Vegas, Windsor, and family vacations in Florida. Mike loved attending concerts (especially to see Honeymoon Suite) and going for drives around Niagara in his Cadillac XLR. Mike was passionate about sports, especially soccer, hockey, and golf. Most of all, he loved watching his boys play sports. He coached his sons in soccer, went to every hockey game and never missed a practice. Mike recently got to spend a couple of weeks with his 9-month-old grandson Xander, who he affectionately referred to as his “little peanut”. This brought him so much joy and happiness and will be a lasting memory that we will cherish forever. Before anything else, Mike was a devoted father and grandfather, and time spent with his boys meant everything to him. He will be truly missed beyond measure by all who were lucky enough to know him.
Mike was an incredibly generous person who was always willing to lend a helping hand to others in need. He was a giving man throughout his life, and after his passing, he wanted to make a difference through tissue and organ donation. Mike’s last selfless act on earth will ensure his legacy will live on and touch many lives and families. In keeping with Mike's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Saturday, February 25th, 2023 at Club Belvedere, 57 John Street, Thorold. Open house from 1pm-4pm. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Jumpstart or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

My condolences to Mikes family. Mike was a great character to work with.
I remember a particularly fun week with him at Port Elgin. I worked with Mike for 30 years as a Cutter grinder at GM..
Gone too soon.
My condolences to Mike’s family. I knew Mike for 50 years and he was one of the first friends I made when my family moved to the north end. We grew up together and had lots of laughs and good times. Sadly we lost touch over the last few years but I will never forget him RIP
My deepest heartfelt condolences to the family. Mike was a great guy and fellow co-worker..He will be sorely missed.May you Rest In Peace.
Pam, Beautiful tribute.
My sincere condolences
Condolences to Mikes loved ones. As young men, I recall eight of us booking a couple chalets and lift passes for a weeks skiing at Mt. Ste. Anne. Unfortunately, Mike broke his ankle while playing basketball two weeks prior to leaving. He decided to come anyway to spend time with friends apres ski. While the gang was enjoying a few beverages after our first days skiing, we noticed that Mike had gone missing only to have him emerge from the bathroom with a sopping wet cast in one hand, and a steak knife in the other. He enjoyed skiing each day after. What a guy. Fun loving? You bet! Sleep well my friend. God bless.
My condolences to Mike and his family
My deepest and most sincere condolences to you beautiful Lori, Dave, children and families. May God’s precious Holy Spirit, The Great Comforter, comfort you all in this time of great sorrow. My prayers are with you all.
Sincerely,
Emily (Portelance) Bedard

Mike represented kindness, thoughtfulness, generosity, patience, and love. His sense of humour was always present, at all our family gatherings. He was always up on the latest news, always had something to contribute to any topic being discussed. He made my sister very happy. He loved his boys beyond words. His grandson meant so much to him, the light of his life. I’m so happy you got meet him. I know you’ll walk by his side throughout his life. You will be missed dearly.
