Obituary of Michael "Mike" Granton

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Mike Granton at his residence on Monday, April 4, 2022 at the age of 73. He leaves behind Tammy, sons Cale and Wayne, stepdaughter Lana, granddaughter Lily, brother Carl (Sandra), sister Mary Ellen and nephew Danny. Mike is now reunited with his predeceased parents Frederick and Teresa and brother Johnny.

Mike will be remembered for his lifelong passion for stockcar racing, beginning in his late teens with his late model (57 Chevy), and eventually advancing to sportsman and modified classes as a builder and driver racing at local speedways as well as in Upstate New York. In the early 90s Mike was thrilled when he was approached to join the Active Racing Team out of Mooresville, North Carolina as their tire specialist, travelling across the U.S. to compete at all Nascar Winston Cup Series racetracks for a few seasons. After that, Mike stayed involved with local tracks by building cars and grooming new, young and upcoming talent (Young Guns), as well as helping and assisting others involved with racing. For some, Mike became a kind of go to guy for help and advice (What do you need).

Cremation has taken place and arrangements are entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). The family and friends of Michael "Mikey" Granton invite you to celebrate his life on Sunday May, 7, 2023 at Loyal Order Of Moose, 92 Permilla St, St. Catharines, ON starting at 1:00 p.m. In memory of Mike, memorial donations may be given to the charity of one's choice.
