Obituary of Linda Louise Gariepy

After a valiant fight with her declining health and cancer, Linda passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the Douglas Memorial Hospital, at the age of 76. She was a cherished mother of Vance (Deborah) and stepmother of Randy (Andrea) and Arthur (Lorraine). Loving GG of Natasha, Rebecca, Alex, and many other grand and great-grandchildren, all of whom she was very proud of. Dear sister of Albert (Debbie) Mummery, Carol Montgomery, and a special aunt to many nieces and nephews. She has been reunited with her beloved husband, Arthur and her loving son Earl.

Reflecting on Linda’s life we recall the impact she had on those around her and the legacy of love and generosity she leaves behind. She lived a life guided by the simple joys of creativity, family, and kindness. Linda found solace and pleasure in the art of knitting and crafting, always pouring her heart into each creation. She spoiled her family with the preparation of delicious meals and baked treats. Her love was a special ingredient in every dish she prepared.

Linda had a fondness for leisurely walks and would enjoy many moments listening to her favourite melodies of country music. But above all, her greatest love came from spending time with her family. Whether it was going for drives to admire Christmas lights or decking out her home in the festive spirit of Christmas. Linda cherished every opportunity to create lasting memories with her loved ones. Evident of her kind and generous nature.

Linda poured boundless creativity into every aspect of the holiday season, ensuring that no one went without. Her generosity knew no bounds, often crafting gifts with her own hands, a true testament to her thoughtful and kind nature.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to her palliative care team; her nurses and Dr. Scher, for their exceptional and compassionate attention that was given to Linda.

In accordance with Linda’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. A private family gathering will be held at a later time including an interment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be given to McMaster Children's Hospital.

Linda was a very special lady. Her love and kindness held no bounds. I will forever be grateful for raising me under a very difficult and emotional time. Her strength never wavered even though her health declined. My heart is so saddened there are no words. I’m glad she is no longer suffering. Will always cherish the time we were together.

MY CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY I just recently had the chance to get to really know and really bond with Linda. We would sit at the kitchen table and she would be doing her knitting and ask me for advice on if the colors went together or not or if they matched lol or she would do diamond art, 2 of her favorite pass time things to do oh boy oh boy could that wowan sit for hours upon hours doing then !! Me I would would be doing painting or diamond art, but I tell ya I could NOT sit for as long as she could. No way no how.. we would also sit on the front porch and listen to the birds chirp and all of nature’s wonderful sounds..

REST IN PARADISE LINDA you are at peace now and no longer struggling. I’m gonna miss our times together.
