Obituary of Leo Martens

After a courageous battle with cancer, Leo passed away while surrounded by the love of his family on October 17, 2022 in his 75th year. Beloved husband to Pauline. Loving father to the late David (Nicole) Martens, Stephen (Melinda) Martens, Jason (Kristen) Maney and Jessica Martens. Proud Papa Leo to his grandchildren: Katie-Lynn, McKenna, Tavia, Jackson, Leom, Declan and Jayda.

Leo retired from a lifelong career at Castle Plumbing & Heating, where he had worked since its establishment. Even when he wasn't at work, Leo was always ready and willing to help anyone in need. He will be remembered for his kindness and for his love of his family, especially his grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the palliative care staff at NHS-St. Catharines for the care and compassion shown to Leo.

In keeping with Leo's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 1-4 p.m. in the Glen Elgin Room at Balls Falls Conservation Area, 3292 Sixth Ave, Lincoln. Arrangements are entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services.

Dear Pauline and family. I was sorry to hear of Leo’s passing. I have fond memories of getting to know Leo when his mom became the beloved Oma of the Fransen clan a life-time ago. Leo was a kind and gentle person who would give you the shirt off his back. I will be thinking of you as you gather as a family to mourn your loss and celebrate Leo’s life.
