Obituary of Laurie Dawn Steele
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our kind-spirited and beloved Laurie, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021, in her 60th year. She will be forever loved and remembered by her partner Randy Hicks and by her children Derek Steele, Melissa (Colin) Van Soelen, Alex Steele, and stepchildren Andrew (Tisha) Hicks and Jeffrey (Andrea) Hicks. Laurie was a proud Grandma who cherished every moment with her grandchildren and was known as “Fun Shopping Grandma” to; Elizabeth, Alison, Trisha, Jameson, Aurora, Austin and Colton.Laurie was survived by her loving parents Dolores and James Gibson and will also be greatly missed by her dear sister Jane, niece Rebecca, great-niece Tylene, and by her brothers-in-law Brad and Tim.
She was predeceased by her brother Jeffrey Steele and her brother-in-law Tony Dupont.
We know that Laurie is tending to her heavenly garden, filled with marigolds, white roses and all her favourite vegetables; with her favourite country music playing in the background. In life, gardening and listening to music brought her great joy, but most of all she loved being home surrounded by her family. She adored her grandchildren, and loved spending every moment with them, going shopping and watching them grow. Laurie and Randy spent 18 wonderful years together, travelling and cheering on their favourite sport teams: Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays, and even catching a few live games which included the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Laurie was always thinking of other people and was constantly caring for everyone and everything in her life. She will be remembered as a giving person, with a kind and gentle nature. We were so blessed to have Laurie in our lives.
