Obituary of Kenneth Howard Cook

Passed away peacefully in his favourite space, his home, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the age of 71. He was a loving father of Jordan (Lisa) Cook. Dear brother of Gerry (Eleanor), Fred, Debbee (Tim), Sandy (Steve), Rick (Terri). Ken was a proud and loving uncle and great-uncle to all his nieces and nephews, and will be missed by his cousins, Pat(Ed) and Art(Sharon). Ken was predeceased by his parents Marjorie and Hermin Cook.

Ken grew up in Wellandport, where he spent his youth exploring in the bush, fishing and enjoying nature. He will be remembered as a lover of music. In his later years, he found his calling by having a record booth at the Niagara Flea Market in St. Catharines, where he would sell albums and was able to share his love of music with many people each and every week. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

A special thank you to John for providing Ken with comfort, care and friendship through his later years. We would also like to acknowledge the efforts of his doctors, psws, and nurses Jan and Melissa for their support that they gave.

In accordance with Ken’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a gathering will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services in Welland. In memory of Ken, memorial donations can be given to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be shared on Ken’s tribute page found at EssentialsNiagara.com.

I met Ken a number of years ago, he came out to thank me for removing the foxtail weeds from the edge of lake. It restored his view of the water from his house and the wildlife, his smile said it all that day. I was happy that I made his view better for the last few years, The sunsets and the wildlife, including the beavers last year would have been good for him to enjoy. Rest in Peace Ken. MY deepest condolences to the family.

I am very sorry to hear of Ken’s passing. We have been neighbours for close to 25 years. Before that I used to see him at garage sales, always on the hunt for records, etc to buy so he could resell at his flea market stand. He was a quiet neighbour, but always kind. I am very sorry to all his family and friends. I am thinking of you all.

I knew Ken for 20 years. He was a living miracle. How he managed with health problems over the years was an inspiration. He was never shy about sharing his beliefs about God and was a testament to what God can do. He truly was a brother in Christ and while I miss him I know I’ll see him again. I praise God for the faith that Ken had. See you soon Bro.
