Obituary of Joanne Marguerite Rail

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 9, 2023. Joanne was a loving mother to her children Amanda Leduc (Scott), Robbie Leduc, and Christine Leduc. Cherished grandmother to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Beloved sister to Sharon (Wayne), Sam (Andy), Karen (Hugh), and Robin. She will be remembered fondly by her brother-in-law Mel and her many nieces and nephews. Joanne will also be sorely missed by her cat Evil. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Elizabeth, and by her uncle Blake.

Joanne worked as a Dispatcher at Diamond Taxi in Toronto for many years and was well-liked by her colleagues and customers. She was known for her motherly nature and would provide support to anyone in need. Joanne was a talented cook and loved preparing home-cooked meals for her family and friends. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and creating pottery. Joanne will be remembered for her kind heart, feisty personality, and zany sense of humour. She was a very loyal and non-judgemental person who accepted and loved everyone. She was also a big animal lover and enjoyed the beauty of nature. Joanne was known to be a steel trap and the best secret keeper of many people's secrets. She will be missed, and will remain in the hearts of those who were lucky to have known her.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Cambridge Memorial Hospital and LHIN Niagara for their support and excellent care.

In keeping with Joanne's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, March 19th from 1-3 p.m. in the parlour at Knox Presbyterian Church, 53 Church St., in St. Catharines. If desired, memorial donations can be made to Princess Margaret Hospital or St. Michael's Hospital Foundation.

My sweet Aunt Joanne. May you rest in peace. I’ll always remember your warm motherly ways. Always making sure we were all on the right track growing up. She was even the same with my kids later. She always loved cooking and loved the family get togethers. Getting the Christmas Eve thing going again (like we used to do at Nan and Pappies house) made her really happy and she looked forward to it so much. She always made sure we had the Asian party pack from m&m meats every year at this event. You will be surely missed.

Love you always
