Obituary of Joanne Foster

FOSTER, Joanne
Peacefully went home to be with her Lord, on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, in her 73rd year. Beloved mother of Paul Berry and Leigh Ann Crawford. Proud Grandma to Kaitlin Crawford and Summer Foster. Dear sister of Carol Ferrari, Susan (Dave) Durnan, Bob (Bonnie) Foster, Frances Foster, Mike (Cathy) Foster and Tim (Michelle) Foster. She will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews and lifelong friend Tudy Patterson. Predeceased by her parents (who she loved greatly) Margaret and Ernest Foster, also by her brother-in-law, Domenic Ferrari.

Joanne was a devout parishioner for many years at St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church. She was a true pillar of strength to her family and left them a legacy of love and devotion which will never be forgotten. Her most joyful moments were spent with family and exploring nature outdoors with her grandchildren. Joanne loved bird watching and knew so many kinds of birds. She loved walking along the Welland Canal and researching its history. She really enjoyed watching her British mystery shows and loved discussing them in Facebook groups. She was such a loving and compassionate mother, sister, aunt and friend and will be so dearly missed.

A special thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Hamilton and Niagara Falls Hospital for their care and support.

In accordance with Joanne's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 310 Central Ave, Fort Erie, on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 11am. An interment will follow the Mass, at Greenwood Cemetery, 1900 Thompson Road, Fort Erie. Expressions of sympathy may be given to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or flowers may be sent to Saint Michael’s Church for Joanne’s Funeral Mass. Online condolences may be shared on Joanne's tribute page at essentialscbs.com.

Our family is heartbroken at the news of Joanne’s passing. We share such wonderful memories of the entire Foster clan having been neighbours of theirs when we lived on Douglas Street.

Mr. & Mrs. Foster left such a wonderful legacy including each and every one of their children, grandchildren and eventual great-grandchildren.

Joanne’s authenticity, humour and deep laugh brought so much joy to our lives.

Our sincerest condolences to Paul, Leigh Ann and the entire family. Love,
