Obituary of Jerry Gasparotto

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry after a courageous battle on April 18th, 2023 at the Welland County General Hospital at the age of 72. He is the beloved husband of Helen and devoted father to Selina. Jerry was born to Teresa and the late Bruno in Italy and immigrated to Canada when he was just a child. He is survived by his sister, Bruna and will be missed by many extended family members and friends.

Jerry worked at Canada Post as a Letter Carrier for 35 years, retiring in 2021. He was an avid golfer, hockey, and baseball player in his younger years. He loved watching golf and hockey, especially the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jerry enjoyed doing his daily morning Sudoku and found it to be a great way to stay sharp.

A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held at Essentials Cremation and Burial Services, 221 Division St., Welland on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 1-4 p.m. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Jerry, you are one of the the good ones. The last few of an elite breed. You are certainly the OG of our workplace and kept it old school. That was something I was drawn to and I think it made for a great working relationship.
My condolences to your family. You will be sorely missed. They don’t make ’em like you anymore. I know that you have had a fulfilling life with many experiences and memorable joys. One of those experiences was teaching these young boys here a thing or two about work. You are a champion to everyone.
I wish I had a better opportunity to give you the retirement celebration you deserved. They kicked you out of here because they didn’t want 70 year old badasses working during Covid… but when you were 69, it was ok, right?
The next shot of Jack is for you friend. I miss you.

Helen… I am stunned and at a total loss for words. Your loving posts of you and Jerry and Selina’s growing up to be an adult have always been a highlight for me to read, and to see all the pictures. My deepest condolences to you all. May the years of happy memories somehow provide you with support going forward. Ironically, I am a co-organizer of a memorial here in Mississauga in the late morning of the 13th and I will head to Welland to help comfort you as the day progresses. My love to you and Selina. ❤️

In loving memory ...
I/we pledge to make a memorial donation.
