In Loving Memory of

Euphemia Jean Cameron

1954-2019

Obituary of Euphemia Jean Cameron

It is with wholehearted sadness that our family announces that our sister, (Euphemia) Jean Cameron was called Home on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the age of 64. Jean was the first of 11 children born to Helen (nee Halbert) and Alex Cameron, both predeceased.

Born in Sudbury on September 22, 1954, Jean took being the oldest sister very seriously. However, she did start breaking in our parents for the rest of us. With the freedom and adventure of youth, Jean left home at an early age. Leaving with very little, she managed to explore different parts of our wonderful country. She seemed to have been born with independence and continued to live her life that way. In the early years, Jean was employed at Davey May Fuels. From there, she spent many years working at Co-operator's Insurance, first in Sudbury and then in Niagara Falls with adventures in between, Jean completed her career at OMVIC.

It is in Niagara Falls that Jean made her home. She was a proud, classy and dignified woman who had a mischievous sense of humour and was very quick to laugh. Jean was the essence of compassion, style and duty.  Through work ethic and helpful & kind ways she built a beautiful life for herself, developing many life long friendships and very meaningful relationships.

Jean is survived by her partner Ken McCourt of Niagara Falls; her sisters Heather Gagnon (Chip) of Hanmer; Dale Mason (Carl) of Okotoks, AB; Lynn Mercier (Chester predeceased) of Wahnipitae; Sandra Mehmet (Chico) of Garson; Carolyn Cameron (Gord) of Sudbury; Laurie Pollock (Fred) of Sudbury; Shelley Cameron Gagnon (Rob) of Val Caron; Vickie Cameron (Mike) of Garson and Valerie Smith (Jim) of Garson. Jean was predeceased by our only brother, Ken Cameron of Sudbury.

Family was most important to Jean and although she loved her sisters deeply it was her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who gave her the most joy. Auntie Jeannie will be sorrowfully missed by Cassie (Brian); Corrie (Paul); Amie (Dave); Kristin (Robert); Drew (Michele); Brianne (Des); Cameron; Laura (Todd); Cherie; Kim; Cindy (Dustin); Darren (Heather); Eric (Tracey); Craig (Louise); Derek (Ashley); Taylor; Courtnie; Dustin (Aly); Shala (Stallone); Mikayla (Eric); Alex (Joshua); Owen (Zoe); Spencer (Jen); MacKenzie; Jessica (Paul); Jamie; Haylie; Darcie; Bradey and Harper. Grantie Jeannie was also adored by her great nieces and nephews Aiden; Davis; Wesley; Tyler; Gavin; Katelyn; Lily; Russell; Alden; Ethan; Cody; Raeleigh; Zoey; Maverick; Olivia; Calvin; Kara; Tyler; Mason; Alexis; Aaliyah; Maeva; Norah; Lewis; George and Trey. Jeannie will also be missed by her Aunts, Uncles, cousins and extended family.

Jeannie's love for her family was deep and immeasurable. She revelled in our accomplishments, she hurt with our sorrows. We all feel cheated that she was taken away from us so early and without reason, but we will always be grateful that she came along at all. She was there for the beginning of each of our journeys and we are honoured and blessed to have been with her at the end of hers.

Our family would like to express our thanks to all those who took part in her care, especially Dr. Chum and Dr. Wong of St Joseph's Health Centre in Hamilton and their team, who treated Jeannie with such tenderness, dignity and genuine care.  We will also be forever grateful to all those who reached out to her, called and visited her. You all brought great joy to her. Arrangements are entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905) 354-2133.

A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 6548 Dorchester Road, Niagara Falls, Ontario on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 12 pm. Following the Mass, there will be a Celebration of Life at the Chippawa House, 3876 Main Street, Niagara Falls, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Angelman Syndrome Society, 210105 Priddis Valley Road West, Priddis, AB, T0L 1W4. Online condolences may be shared on Jean’s tribute page found at essentialscbs.com.

Missing you Jeannie. My heart is heavy, but I smile thinking of you and the memories we made. Even though a couple years past since our last visit I know a call or text brightened both our days. You were a true friend, a loving mentor and an inspiration. The way you made those around you feel special was your gift to this world. One day we will meet again in heaven and we’ll play a game of Monopoly ?
My condolences to Ken and all the family. May you have rest knowing Jeannie is home and at peace.

I had the pleasure of knowing Jeannie when she first started at OMVIC. She had a very warm personality, and someone you can easily call a good friend. The news came as a shock to me, and really, I am at a loss for words. The world has definitely lost a good soul. I offer the Cameron Family and friends my condolences and best wishes. We will always think of you Jeannie!

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Jean through OMVIC, she fast became a friend. Although we didn’t see each other often we sent text messages back and forth. She had such a genuine heart, a warm, caring nature, someone who taught me to wear more color 🙂 & to choose my battles.
My deepest condolences to the entire Family at this great loss. Jean will always be remembered with the fondest memories!

The world gets smaller as we say goodbye to a lady with a huge heart and the ability to love like no other. It is with respect that we remember her, but a heavy heart that we lose Jean at such an early time. I will always think of her as a young heart, a happy soul and with a twinkle in her eye. Rest easy.

I have been working with Jean for 9 years and we always had a great time talking and having a good laugh. She had this incredible charm that one just wanted to keep on listening and talking to her. She was a very caring and loving person. Her ability to listen and say the right words at the right time was just amazing. She will be dearly missed. Those lovely memories will be cherished dearly.
I pray that may her soul rest in peace and may God give the patience to the family to bear this big loss and comfort in this difficult time. Our sincere condolences and prayers are with the family.

I had the pleasure of not only working with Jeannie, but also calling her a dear friend. She will always be remembered for her laughter, witty sense of humour, bright smile, gorgeous pink fingers nails and her kindness. I speak for many people from OMVIC when I say she was always willing to take the time to help anyone. She was well loved by her peers and the dealer groups in her area. I have many, many great memories of Jeannie. You will forever be missed by dear generous friend.

I had the privilege of meeting up with Jean a few years back for a quick visit. It had been several years before that since I had last seen her. The best way I could describe her was of course kind, funny, genuine and very generous in nature. I remember when I was 18 or 19 my car was getting repaired and had plans with a girlfriend on a Saturday, Jeannie insisted on lending me her vehicle that evening. I never forgot that all these years later. To all her friends and family I would like to offer sincere condolences. Jeannie may you rest in peace. Gone too soon but not forgotten. XO!
