Obituary of Hellen Nixon (née Pritchard)

Hellen Nixon (née Pritchard), a vibrant soul known for their sarcastic wit, outgoing nature and colorful personality, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at the age of 72 at the NHS-Niagara Falls Site surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.

She has been reunited with her beloved husband Jack Nixon (2020), mother Ruby Pritchard (née Heath), brothers Wayne Pritchard and Bruce Pritchard and her two grandchildren. Hellen leaves behind her daughter Sandra Gouthro, son Jason Gouthro, grandsons Jacob Buck and Dustin Ford, granddaughter Brianna Gouthro, father Reginald Pritchard, sister Marie Hudson (Dan), brothers Darrell Pritchard and Todd Pritchard (Patricia) and step-daughter Tracey Nixon-Johnston (Mike). Hellen will be terribly missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins, especially Fred and Judy Young-Byrne. Hellen leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and adventure that will be fondly remembered by family and friends alike.

Born in Newfoundland, Hellen lived a life filled with adventure and joy. She had an insatiable passion for travel, exploring the nooks and crannies of Canada, with a special fondness for returning home to the picturesque landscapes of Newfoundland. Hellen embraced life to the fullest, indulging in her favorite pastimes such as fishing, horseback riding, racing and camping in the serene wilderness of Northern Ontario. She found solace and excitement in the great outdoors, cherishing every moment spent amidst nature's beauty.

An avid music enthusiast, Hellen cherished the memories of lively concerts in Crystal Beach, where she reveled in the energy of live performances and shared unforgettable moments with her brothers.
Above all, Hellen held a deep love for family and cherished the time spent together, whether engaged in spirited games of Euchre, competing in friendly dart matches or simply sharing laughter and stories. Her presence lit up any room, and her vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services and a private family service will be held at a later date.
