Obituary of Heather Jean Helmer
Passed away peacefully on March 18, 2024, at the age of 76, following a brief illness. Heather was a loving wife to Gary for 52 years. Cherished sister to Gail Hagarty, and sister-in-law to Don (Peggy) Helmer, Sharon (the late Phil) Manley, Joan (the late Bob) Burns, the late Ron Helmer, and the late Iris (the late Ron) Gardener. She will also be missed by her friends from Kingsway Bowling Lane in Welland.Heather was born in Iroquois in 1947. Later in life, she and Gary relocated to Niagara. Heather delighted in her weekly trips to the Casino, where she immersed herself in the excitement of the games and enjoyed the shows. In her spare time, she also loved doing puzzles. Heather will be remembered for her caring nature and friendly demeanor, and also for her love of animals, especially cats.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of the Trillium Unit at Greater Niagara General Hospital for their exceptional care during Heather's time of need. Cremation has taken place. If desired, donations to the Humane Society in Heather's memory would be deeply appreciated.
