Obituary of David Dimberio

DIMBERIO, David Mark

Surrounded by love, faith and peace, David passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Welland Hospital, at the age of 57. Beloved husband and best friend of his wife of 31 years, Mary (nee Butera). Loving and devoted “Super Dave” and father of Christina (Dakota Egerter). Cherished son of Richard and Carol Dimberio. Dear brother of Philip (Patty), Donna Dimberio, and brother-in-law of Amy (Julio), John (Lydia), Angie (Albert), Rosie (Gino), Dominic (Angela) and Glenda. Dave will be missed by his Uncle Tony (Gail) DiPetta, Duana (Frank) Congin, Stephanie (Bill) Bishop, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. David has been reunited with his grandparents, mother and father-in-law Angelo and Rosa Butera, by his brother-in-law Antonio Butera, and by his fur baby Sammy (his schnoodle).

A devoted family man, he adored his cats Severus and Luna. David was a free spirit and loved life! Our family is so proud  of how strong, positive and determined Dave was. He was truly an inspiration and he never stopped smiling. A proud entrepreneur, Mary and Dave owned Bridgeburg Antique Village in Fort Erie and he was the President of William’s Gold Refining Company. Back in the day he was a Dental Technician in California and a Banker in New York City. Dave gave endless time to charitable work and to his BIA and Canadian Power-Squadron. He loved cooking, outdoor sports (fishing, he was a Spartan Football player, baseball and golf), and his favourite pastime was enjoying car shows for he was a car enthusiast and he even owned Corvettes! In the summer months, he enjoyed spending time with his wife Mary, picking up and collecting beach glass and enjoying the water and watching the sunset. Our family is left with a lifetime of memories and love.

A special thank you to the staff, nurses, and doctors of the Welland Hospital for their kindness and support right to the end.

In accordance with Dave’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). A Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 from 6-9pm with a service of remembrance held at 7pm, at Heartland Forest, 8215 Heartland Forest Road, Niagara Falls. As we create a personal tribute for Dave, we would like to encourage family and friends to wear a Hawaiian shirt or bright colours to his celebration of life! In lieu of flowers, a crowd funding opportunity through “Go Fund Me- Dave Matters” would be appreciated by his family. Online condolences may be share on Dave’s tribute page found at EssentialsNiagara.com.

My condolences to the family. It was reassuring to know that he’s in a better place. Even at the very end when I visited him on Monday expecting to sit and pray in his presence, he opened his eyes and acknowledged Jesus Christ as his saviour nodding his head. It was obvious that he was loved by family and his service to his community was greatly appreciated.

Dear Richard, Carol and family,
Our cousin Sharyn (Colonna) Schneider just sent me David’s obituary. I’m so sorry to hear about your son. He sounded like a wonderful guy and I was happy to read that he was a fellow antique and cat lover. I’m sure he will be missed by everyone who loved him. It’s so hard to lose a child; it’s certainly not the way we thought it would go. My heart is with you at this sad time.
Your cousin,
Donna (Cappelli) Penfield
