Obituary of David Alexander Bowman

We are heart broken to announce the passing of David Alexander Bowman in the early morning hours of Monday, March 13, 2023 at Port Colborne Hospital at the age of 67. He leaves behind his devoted partner Christine Ann, daughters Dorothy Peets (Brandon) and Dawn Bowman (Jon Mayne), grandchildren Matthew, Anthony, Nathan and Evan and fur grandbaby Nelson and their cat, Kaylee as well as his brothers and sister or "The DAB Crew" as they were known. David's presence will be terribly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him but especially by Christine's children and his best friend John Swick to whom David was a mentor. He was greeted on the other side by his parents Lloyd (1991) and Mary (1997) and his grandson Jacob (2019).

David was born in Niagara Falls and worked as a millwright, machinist, and as a heavy machinery mechanic for many different companies across the Niagara Region. He played hockey and was the goaltender and forward as well as being an umpire in baseball. He enjoyed roller skating, fishing, fixing and building things. He was always trying to improve things and make them work better, right up to the end when he attempted to improve his walker! His passion, besides helping others, was being on his motorcycle. He loved to ride! He rode over three million miles on many different bikes throughout his lifetime. He was a motorcycle instructor both here and in the U.S.A and would compete. He gave up competitions because he would always win and he wanted to give others a chance. He had a heart of gold and was very selfless.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral will take place. In his honor, get out for a bike ride or just be out in the open air and think of him. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. If desired, donations to the Walker Family Cancer Centre or Ride for Dad in David's memory would be appreciated by his family.

Dave was a really good man. From the very first time we met, right until the last time we spoke, Dave was the guy you could count on to do the right thing, to stand up for you, to share a story and a few laughs. We’ll miss him around the office. Our deepest condolences to Dawn and Dorothy.

David truly was a selfless man. It meant so much to him to help others. He helped me when my mom passed and I will forever be grateful, not only for his help but mostly for the friendship that came out of it. Ride on my friend xo
