Darren Elliott Minor

Obituary of Darren Elliott Minor

August 17, 1964 - November 1, 2021

Darren’s quick wit and sense of humour became our treasured memories as we said goodbye to him on Monday, November 1, 2021 at the Walker Family Cancer Centre. He will be so very sadly missed by his wife Linda (nee Rogers). He was an involved, loving and proud father to his daughters Calli and Kiera and step-daughter Abigail Green. Darren was predeceased by his parents Kenneth Minor and Carol Elliott. He will always be remembered with much love by his siblings Bonnie (Lindsay) Allison, Tammy Minor, Ken (Georgina) Minor, Stacie Lynds, Haven (Cassie) Elliott, step-mother Linda Minor, sister-in-law Lynn Cheverie, and his many nieces and nephews.

Darren was also loved by so many amazing friends who filled his life with love and laughter – you know who you are!

Whether you knew him for a short time or a lifetime, all would attest that Darren was an honest, fun loving guy, who was sure to make you laugh. Always a reliable and hard worker, Darren followed-up a 20+ year career as a welder at John Deere, Welland by going back to school to become a private investigator. Darren was an avid poker player, golfer, hunter and gun enthusiast but he was truly a softy with a big smile that will be remembered forever.

Our family appreciates everything that was done for Darren and would like to personally thank everyone who helped him live his final years on his own terms, filled with grace and dignity. He was an inspiration to us all with his positive outlook and commitment to following doctors orders. Sadly and surprisingly, he was not here as long as we had hoped. So many Healthcare workers went above and beyond caring for him throughout his seven year journey, especially the Toronto General Hospital Transplant Team, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and the Walker Family Cancer Centre. We will be forever grateful for everything you have done. Thank you!

In accordance with Darren’s wishes, cremation has taken place and arrangements are entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). Information about a celebration of Darren’s life will be shared at a later date. Memorial donations may be given to the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children. Online condolences may be shared on Darren’s tribute page found at EssentialsNiagara.com.

My condolences to Darren’s family. We grew up together, our mothers were best friends in childhood. Many fond memories, lots of laughs and some classic antics I will never forget Although we went our separate ways after highschool, he was still the topic of many stories.

Although I have not seen Darren since high school, I have nothing but fond memories. He gave me the name Chipmunk Cheeks that stuck for many years. One of the friendliest, funniest, warm hearted people I have known. Take heart knowing he touched a lot of peoples lives in a positive way.
Sending heartfelt condolences.

Darren Minor was one of my best friends growing up along with Dave MacDonald. We were like “Spanky and our Gang” except Darren was even funnier. He was also the first drummer I ever worked with, in our high school band “”The Hats. His on-stage antics at the Grade 13 assembly remains one of the great “DSS” stories of all time. In other words, Darren was a true classic! I am shocked to hear this sad news and want to extend my sincere condolences to his family. He will be sorely missed. Please let me know about the celebration of life.

Sorry to hear of Darren’s passing, we started the same day at Deere and worked together for many years. He was hard working, funny and a pleasure to work with. That infectious smile was always present when he talked about his girls.
Very sorry for your loss.

So sad to hear this news of Darren’s passing. In addition to all said so far, my husband Victor and I remember Darren as a great concert-goer, not afraid to stand in the front row and tell a band when he thought they weren’t up to muster. Rock on Darren forever!
