Obituary of Dagmar Sindelar
Dagmar Sindelar passed away at River Road Residence in Niagara Falls on March 1, 2023, at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her husband Otakar (1995) and is survived by her daughter Stephanie, son-in-law Vlastimil, grandchildren Denisa and Vlastimil Jr, sister Renata of England and her family in Czech Republic.Dagmar was born on February 2, 1933 in the Czech Republic. She came to Canada in 1968 and settled in Niagara Falls, where she worked as a masseuse. She started at Leslie's pedicure in St.Catherines and later opened her own practice and became very well known for her professionalism and grew a large clientele. In addition to her work, Dagmar was passionate about swimming and taught children how to swim. She was known for her strength and endurance and even attempted to swim across Lake Ontario twice but couldn't finish due to circumstances beyond her control. She also devoted 30 years of her life and led the ladies fitness classes in Queenston Library.
Dagmar was a strong-willed and independent woman who inspired those around her to live life to the fullest. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends but especially by her long time friend Nadia Huml. Dagmar was always very grateful for the care and thoughtfulness from the staff at River Road Retirement Residence. They stayed by her side until the end. Also, her family extends a sincere thank you for the care she received. As a lover of animals and to fulfill her wishes, if desired, donations to the Lincoln County Humane Society in Dagmar's memory would be appreciated by her family.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. A time to comfort one another has been put aside at Essentials 4300 Drummond Road, Niagara Falls on Sunday, March 12 from 1:00 p.m to 3:00 p.m with a service to start at 2:00 p.m to celebrate Dagmar's life.

We are sorry to hear of Dagmar’s passing, and offer our condolences to her family and friends. Dagmar was one of the earliest of my mother’s friends in Canada, and they remained close throughout the years. I have fond memories of Dagmar teaching me to swim as a child, and of late evening laughter and boisterous conversations with my parents at our cottage when I was in my teens. Both my mother and I will never forget the comfort that Dagmar and her late husband Otto gave to us in our own time of need. It is a kindness that can never be repaid.
We will miss you Dagmar.
