In Loving Memory of

Anne Malstrom

1923-2019

Obituary of Anne Malstrom

In loving memory of Anne Malstrom (nee Cowan), who passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at the age of 96. She is reunited with her loving husband of 54 years, James (Jim) Malstrom (1999), her parents Andrew and Jane, and her younger brothers, Andy and Tommy. Anne is survived by her son, Doug (Tracey), her granddaughters, Tara (David) Gonzalez and Amber (Brad) McCann, and her great grandchildren, Jonathan, Cruz, Annabelle and Charlotte.

Anne was born on March 12, 1923, in Glasgow, Scotland. She worked at Rolls Royce, making airplane parts during World War II and came to Canada as a war bride in 1945, settling with Jim and his family in Toronto. Anne spent her career as a coil winder and a union rep with General Electric. Her dedication to those she worked with resulted in many lifelong friendships.
In the early 1990s, Anne moved to Niagara to be closer and more involved with her granddaughters. From nurturing and caring for them, to sharing jokes and fun fashion shows, Anne cherished spending time with Tara and Amber. Anne will be fondly remembered by her former daughter-in-law, Trish Sawatzky, her nieces and nephews in Canada and Scotland, and her many friends at the Pen Centre.

We will remember Anne for her love of Laura Secord chocolate, music, dancing and tomato juice (no ice, no lemon, no straw). She had an undying sense of fashion, greeted everyone with stories, and loved the Monarchy and Lawrence Welk. She will especially be remembered for her devotion and unconditional love for her family.
A special thank you to the staff at Orchard Terrace Care Centre for creating a loving and friendly home for Anne, and for the exceptional compassionate care they provide on a daily basis.
In accordance with Anne's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). A Celebration of Anne's life will be held at a later date.
