Obituary of Anna Elizabeth Douglas (nee Orynik)

Anna Elizabeth Douglas (neé Orynik)

Passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 26, 2020 with her family at her side. Anna and her beloved Rob spent 42 years together raising a family, including several German Shepherds and one Bongo. Together, they traveled across North America, visited Mexico many times, favouring Isla Mujeres, with one memorable side trip to Belize. Anna was devoted to her children Tristan and Robyn (Jon), attending Robyn’s wedding just a few weeks ago. She is also survived by her brother Roman (Kim) and their extended family in Saskatchewan.

Anna will always be remembered for her love of basketball. Her family and friends could always rely on her zest for life, positive disposition, sense of humor and enduring love. There are no words for how greatly Anna will be missed, we are all better for knowing her.

Many many thanks to all the wonderful home care and home nursing staff who helped Anna, as well as the incredible staff at Hospice Niagara. Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133) has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared on Anna’s tribute page at EssentialsNiagara.com. Further arrangements will be announced at a later date.

Rob and family, my deepest condolences. I have many fond memories of Anna when we worked together at Central Guaranty Trust on Main St. She was always smiling and saw the bright side to everything. I am so sorry for your loss.

It still doesn’t seem real that Anna is no longer with us (in body) – but she will NEVER leave my thoughts and my absolute admiration for her grace in battling cancer for 10 years. She never even whimpered, she soldiered on through it all. Heroic, truly.

Thank goodness there were many good days or “good enough “ days, pre-Covid when she enjoyed traveling with Rob and Tristan and Robyn, and/or cruise the back roads with Rob and the dogs in the RV. For that I am grateful.

Though the doctors predicted 10 years, I never wanted to believe them because she seemed so resilient and positive. I am angry about cancer and the inability to find a cure.

My heart aches. I will always love you Anna, and I will always miss you. You are in my heart forever cousin.

Anna was my co-worker for so many years and became a great friend. We had a fun time in NYC, especially seeing the Rockets and Robyn getting her picture with Santa. Anna had a wonderful sense of humour and a deep strength. Rob and the kids were the love of her life. My condolences to Rob, Robyn and Tristen.

My condolences to Rob and family. I remember being at your wedding! Haven’t kept in touch but enjoyed seeing Anna and you at Lorna’s surprise birthday many years ago – we had lots of laughs! She was a beautiful person, both inside and out, and I am a better person for knowing her.

Anna was a kind, caring friend. She was a fabulous basketball player. Besides good ball, much fun and laughter was had at master’s tournaments. She was loved. She will be missed.
