Sue Smith (Sheri Lee Klaehn)

Obituary of Sue Smith (Sheri Lee Klaehn)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sue on May 12th at the age of 54 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully with her devoted and loving husband, Ron, by her side. Sue will be dearly missed by husband, Ron, her sons Cameron and Erik (Kali) Anderson, Brian and Derek (Savannah) Smith, siblings Paul (Daisy) Klaehn of British Columbia, Tim (Cindy) Klaehn and Gail (Wayne) Campbell both of Kitchener, her earthly guardian angel and mother-in-law, Hilda Smith, and many nieces and nephews. Sue was predeceased by her parents Bernice and Leroy Klaehn and sister Brenda, all of Kitchener. She will be lovingly remembered by numerous family members, her many dear friends and especially her “bestie”, Jessie.Born in Kitchener, Sue loved playing ringette and lacrosse from a young age as well as coaching and refereeing. Sue and Ron also coached Rec Hockey together for several years. She was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan, had an encyclopedic knowledge of player stats, past and present and cherished watching games with Ron. Sue took her greatest joy from the simpler pleasures of quiet times with Ron at home and at the trailer with her sidekick, Striker, always by her side. Sue was a proud and dedicated Mom to her sons, devoted wife to Ron and a kind, supportive friend to so many.
Her caring and compassionate nature extended naturally to her career as a Rehabilitation Support Worker who always advocated for those in need. She made a difference in the lives she touched. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the many friends and family members who continue to be so kind and supportive during this difficult journey. Heartfelt thanks go out to management and co-workers at Fencast for their generosity.
In keeping with Sue’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends at Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905 354 2133) on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 11 a.m to 1 p.m followed by a graveside ceremony at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens with a Celebration of Sue's Life at Cat’s Kitchen, 6788 Thorold Stone Road from 3 p.m to 5 p.m.
