Obituary of Sally “June” Youells
Sally “June” Youells (nee McLean)June, better known as Nana or Nan, passed away at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, surrounded by those who loved her, on October 11, 2020 at the age of 69. She is back together with the love of her life, Richard Youells Jr. (2011).
She leaves behind her daughters, whom she loved very much: Cathy (Paul) Armstrong, Susan (Mike) Butt, and Donna (Brent) James. Also her grandchildren, who were her whole world: Alexandrea (Robert) Lariviere, Jessica Hynes (Drew Webster), Ashton, Derek and Kennadie Butt, Kassandra, Makayla and Kyler James, and great-grandchildren: Kolten, Atticus Boudfeau. June will be dearly missed by her siblings: Russell (Brenda) McLean and Valerie (Mike) Doan, and by her first husband James Ashton. She was predeceased by her parents Bruce Howard ”Scotty” and Catharine Ilene.
June worked at the Fort Erie Racetrack for over 30 years, before retiring to travel with her husband, where they met some great friends along the way.
She was best known for making her “Nana blankets” for the family to keep warm, going to Bingo or the casino, but most of all she adored being surrounded by her grandchildren.
Our family would like to thank the doctors and nurses from Fort Erie, Niagara Falls, St. Catharines and Hamilton, for providing never ending care to our Mom, through the last 9 years. We are comforted knowing that she is now at peace.
In accordance with June’s wishes, cremation has taken place and arrangements are entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to any charity in June’s memory.
