Obituary of Joyce Anne Buchanan (nee Hounsome)
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our Mom and Grandma on November 27, 2019 at Greater Niagara General Hospital in her 72 year. Beloved wife to the late Arthur “Buck” Buchanan. Loving Mother of Sherry (Andy) Fortin, Ian Buchanan, Laurie Lowe (Ray) and Heather Katrick (Rob). Amazing Grandma and Abue to Jasmine, Jordan, Colton, Sofia, Scott, James and Cheyenne. She will be greatly missed by her siblings Doug (Nancy) Hounsome, Ruth (the late Charlie) Hounsome their children and their families and many other family members. Joyce was a true gem who touched many lives and had many friends at Zehrs in Niagara Falls and Zellers in Midland.As per Joyce’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (4300 Drummond Road, Niagara Falls) has been entrusted with arrangements. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday December 7, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Chip N’ Charlies (8189 Lundy’s Lane, Niagara Falls). For those who wish, donations to Hospice Niagara or Wellspring Niagara would be appreciated by the family.

I met Joyce in May of 2016 when she came to Falls Chevrolet Dealership and was looking for a new vehicle. Joyce purchased a 2016 Equinox from me that month. She had an infectious smile and a great personality. It deeply saddens me that she passed so young. My condolences to the family and extended family as I am sure she will leave a void in everyone’s life. Just remember her smile and the fun times you had with her.

Sherry and Family, Your mother was so strong. For all the bumps she went through, she always showed me a smile and showed her strength. She reminded me of my father who went through so much as well, yet kept that positive attitude. She was so determined and independent in a positive way. She will be missed, I was looking forward to visiting her at her new place. Wishing all of you strength to get through this rough time. Your mother was one of a kind. Many tears were shed here at Emerald when they found out she was gone. She had lots of friends here.
