Obituary of Mike Lecompte

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mike Lecompte, who died peacefully on April 5th, 2023, at the age of 74. Mike was the beloved husband of the late Charlene (Keays) (2004), and a much-loved father to Michelle Lecompte (Colin Deer) and Charles Lecompte. Mike is survived by his siblings Rick (Sandra), Norman (the late Doris), and Diane Marcoux. He will also be remembered by many members of the Keays family, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Lucien and Jeanette Lecompte. We are sure Dad is happy to be reunited with Mom, his parents, and his cat Henry.

Mike was born in Welland and graduated from George Brown College. He would go on to work for over 35 years at GM as a Sheet Metal and HVAC tradesman. Dad loved travelling, whether it was trips to Florida to soak up the sun or fishing up north on one of his many family and friends fishing trips. He would of course, liked to be remembered as a renowned and proficient Walleye angler. For many years Mike loved spending time at Club Richelieu, where he could often be found taking the reins on pancakes, clam chowder and grilling steaks. He was also a huge car lover, especially when it came to his candy apple red Camaro convertible.

Mike was extremely social and had a big heart. He was a self-proclaimed "Loud Frenchman," was always the loudest person in the room and the life of the party. Mike was generous to a fault and tried to give whatever he could, and always made sure that his family was provided for. Mike will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his memory will live on forever in their hearts.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Lisa Slattery and her entire family for their support, love, and friendship. Lisa, you were like a daughter to Mike.

In keeping with Mike's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

We're going to miss you, big guy.
