Obituary of George Robert McLaughlin

George McLaughlin, age 89, was reunited with his beloved wife Carole on Thursday, May 16, 2024 after nearly 11 years apart. Together, they shared a remarkable journey spanning six decades of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and adventures across the globe.

George was the last surviving sibling of two, while Carole was an only child. Their enduring love stood as a testament to their commitment and devotion to each other.

George dedicated many years of his life to serving his community as a letter carrier for Canada Post, retiring at the age of 55. Beyond his professional endeavors, he had a passion for numismatics, indulging his fascination with coin collecting throughout his life. Known for his easy-going nature and infectious sense of humor, George was a joy to be around. He had an unparalleled knack for cracking jokes, leaving a trail of laughter wherever he went. Family dinners were a cherished tradition, where stories were shared and memories were made.

George's love extended beyond his human family; he adored his cats, Sara and Cheetah, and cherished every moment spent with them.

In the face of adversity, George demonstrated unwavering strength and resilience. Following Carole's battle with Parkinson's disease, he became a dedicated supporter of the Parkinson's Foundation, honoring her memory with compassion and generosity.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the NHS-Niagara Falls Site for their exceptional care and compassion during George's stay.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place and an interment will follow where he will be laid to rest along side Carole at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery 1483 Lakeshore Rd, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON L0S 1J0 on Monday, May 27, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services in Niagara Falls. If desired, donations in George's honour may be made to NOTL Cats, an organization that was near and dear to his heart.
