Obituary of Alma Walsh

It is with great sadness that the Walsh family announces the passing of their loving mother, Alma, after a valiant and determined fight, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. She will be forever loved by her children, Josh and Katya. Special Gamma of Kaydence. Dear sister of Lois (Ron) Houtby and Stan (Jan) Dillabough. Fur-mom to Baby and Bobo (who both passed away) and Bella and Princess Matilda. Alma was a devoted Canadian mother to several international students.

Alma will be remembered by her vibrant personality and for her zest for life. She had a witty sense of humour, always had a concern and love for dogs, and a passion for the arts. For the past 8 years, Alma found great pleasure in creating paintings, participating in art shows, and becoming an award-winning artist. Her talents expanded into other creations with beadwork, crocheting, and sewing. Alma enjoyed spending time outdoors and was an avid gardener. Inside the glass doors of her china cabinet, you would find her collection of elephant figurines parading across the shelves that brought Alma joyful energy through the years. She also loved to read, dance and listen to her favourite genre of music, K-pop, and she enjoyed watching Asian drama series.

One of her proudest accomplishments was renting out rooms in her house for the past 20 years, creating a caring home for over 80 young women by providing them with space and daily meals, many of whom have stayed connected with through the years and have expressed their appreciation for her support. Alma was a compassionate listener and a comfort to those who knew her. We will miss her dearly.

In accordance with Alma's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held on April 27, 2024 from 1-3pm at Faith Welland Church, 380 South Pelham Rd., Welland.
