Obituary of William John Glashan
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of William John Glashan at his home on January 11, 2024.At 16, Bill met the love of his life Yvonne, to whom he was a devoted husband of 59 years. He was a cherished father to his three daughters, Julie (Sean), Kelly (Marco), and Shannon (Carmen), and a proud Papa to Levi, Owen, Zoe, Jade, Finley, Bella, and Nash.
Originally from New Liskeard, Bill made a mark in Niagara Falls playing hockey and baseball. He pursued Agricultural Studies at Penn State. After 43 years, Bill retired as Superintendent of Golf Courses at the Niagara Parks Commission, dedicating more time to golf, family, grandkids and his faith. Bill was a committed member of the Stamford Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Anyone who knew Bill knows he was an avid lifetime fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Habs. He was really hoping to see the Dodgers win the World Series this year.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. In lieu of flowers, please give to someone in need.
Don’t weep for me, or a vigil keep.
Remember, I’m only sound asleep.
I will wake up to life anew,
So till then, it’s only "Adieu."

To Family: What a special person to know and work with.
All the best.
Yvonne and the Glashan family: Please accept heartfelt condolences from Ann and I on your loss of Bill your loving husband and father. I was a long time friend and team mate of Bill. We grew up in the town of New Liskeard during the mid to late 1950’s. Sports were the flavour of the time and we did it all. Bill was our pitcher for several all Ontario Championships both in Bantam and Midget. Hockey was next and we were team mates with the Lion’s Midgets and the New Liskeard Cubs. Then, Bill left for greater things and a new life and we lost touch with him and his new life. Many years later our paths crossed again and we met Yvonne and I think Julie and it seemed like there was no gap in between. Isn’t that what friendship is? Over the years we connected a few times…old friends Jim Donoghue, Brian Christianson, and Bob Steele got together golf, fun and to hash over old times. I am so grateful for those times, those moments. I cherish that I… we were a part of Bill’s life and he ours. We are so saddened by Bill’s passing. Please accept our heartfelt condolences and love at this sad time. Ann and Reg Holdsworth.

Sorry for your loss, Bill was a gentleman both in athletics and in daily life. He will be sorely missed .
I was a classmate of Bills when he played for the 1962 -63 Niagara Falls Flyers. I would make a copy of all the notes he missed when he was traveling for an out of town game . Our paths crossed a few times at the Whirlpool course and when he visited tenants at Elmwood. He always had a smile and a hello when we met. He was a good guy. My condolences to the families.

To Yvonne and members of the Glashan family. I am deeply saddened by the passing of Billy. He is one of the finest sportsmen that I have encountered. Not only was he a great athlete but a wonderful human being. He had time for everyone no matter what their lot in life was. Over the years people have expressed to me how kind he was to everyone and on many occasions willing to give of his time to young students planning on becoming golf superintendents. He will be missed
May he rest in peace

Yvonne and family. Please accept our sincere condolences on Billy’s passing. We were very sad to hear this news. May he rest in peace.
Dear Yvonne and Julie, Kelly and Shanon, it is sad to hear that Bill passed away. We all loved him because he was so kind and always smiling . He made us laugh and he was a good father and husband. We will miss him dearly . When he was born, Bill did not mean much but by now, Bill Glashan has acquired a lovely name with lots of good qualities that he got to share with us through his life. He was a very good man .all your friends in the congregation know that it will be hard without him but with Jehovah, you will have the strength to endure by thinking of all the good memories he left behind. Our prayers are with you at this difficult time. Take care!
Our cherished Yvonne,l
Love leaves a memory no one steal.
Death leaves a heartache Jehovah will heal.
Dear Yvonne & family
Guy & I are so very sorry to hear of Bills passing. Even though we haven’t seen you in years we have very fond memories of you both. We did see Bill a few years back at the Whirpool Golf Club & had a great visit with him. We hope your memories of happier times will help you with your loss. RIP Bill.
Anyone who knew Uncle Bill will have fond memories of him. I recall he and Yvonne taking my brother and I out in that blue convertible when we visited Nanny. My brother was the ring bearer and myself the flower girl at their wedding. Dancing at their wedding with Grandad who pulled a tack out of my shoe. Uncle Bill knew I loved the Boston Bruins and had arranged for me to have lunch with Derek Sanderson and Marcel Dion who were golfing with him. I guess I was so excited (nervous) that I came down with laryngitis and couldn’t go but I still have the napkin with Best wishes, get well from Derek Sanderson and Marcel Dion! Uncle Bill’s smile would warm the cold right out of you and I can still (and hope I always can) hear his infectious laugh. My heart goes out to my beautiful Aunt Yvonne and my lovely cousins. I love you, you are in my heart, always. He was a gem.
An amazing wonderful man. We will all miss Billy and we will see him again in Paradise Deepest sympathy for the family who loved him dearly
