George was a friend for over 40 years in times that stretched from Canada to Australia and back to Canada. He always had a huge smile and laughter that made you feel so happy and welcome. We can still hear his laughter that we heard in all those barbecue lunches with kids running crazy having fun. What a great Dad he was, such a down to earth , fun and thoughtful person. We are so happy to know that he had a second chance at family life with wonderful Val ! In recent years there were miles between us we missed having him close by however we never lost touch & seeing us or just hearing each other he was always so very happy & welcoming . He is greatly missed by many.

It greatly saddens me that the world has lost such a great man. My deepest sympathy to Val and his family and his close friends. His obituary is beautiful and he had such a great light about him. Instead of shining around us , he now shines above.
Much love and healing at this time .

A great uncle to me, father to his kids and husband to two amazing women.

His is a great story of travel, family and love.

I have so many great memories as a kid playing in the back yard in Bentleigh, going on family holidays with the Rowe and Shelly clan.

Always calm and patient and his smooth Canada accent smooth against most Aussie twangs.

I am always so grateful to George and Val for taking me into the house in Niagara after 10 months backpacking – meeting George at the falls was a highlight of the trip!

Much love to the family around the world. He was a great man and will be missed.

Don’t ask me why, but about 4 months ago I responded to a story about a man named George Rowe operating a bed and breakfast in Stamford Centre. I went to the home but a young man said his family were the new owners. I mention this for the silly reason that I wanted to say hello to a George Rowe and see if he was the same kid I went to the army camp with while in high school.( 1960 ish).) went to N.F.C.V.I. but a lot of the guys were from different Niagara schools. He was a good guy, popular and easy to be friends with. Sadly , after our summer at Ipperwash most guys carried on with their lives. I still have the picture of all of as at Ipperwash. Sorry to hear of his passing.
