Obituary of William Donald Vernon

It is with utter shock and sadness we announce the passing of our beloved William "Bill" Vernon on June 7, 2022 in Thorold just a few weeks shy of his 62nd birthday. He leaves behind his devoted mother Sharon Storin, his treasured brothers Allan (Diwah), David (Modesta), Terry (Christine) and Ron (Mary Catharine), his cherished and only sister Janice (John) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was welcomed to the other side by his father Glendon (1998), his brother Mark (2016) and his step-father Ross Saunders (2022).

Bill had many jobs over his time with us here, most of them physical. He joined the Navy at the young age of 18 and was enlisted for 9 years, he worked at Luke's Auctions, White Oak's and finally for SpencerARL. He loved every one of these jobs, all for different reasons. He was looking forward to retiring in just a few short years however the universe had other plans for him. Bill was an avid sports fan, cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He had a heart of gold and will be fondly remembered for his kindness. The world is a bit darker now without his light.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905 354 2133). A celebration of Bill's life will be held on June 25, 2022 from 11:00 a.m until 3:00 p.m with a funeral service at 11:30 a.m at Bethany Community Church 1388 Third Street Louth, St. Catharines, ON. If desired, donations in Bill's memory may be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters Niagara.

My condolences to Bill’s family for their loss. Bill and I were friends from childhood. One of the first friends I remember having. We both lived in the Church St & William St area and played together all the time. Over the years we remained in touch and always shared the comradery of good friendship. I am saddened that I have lost my friend but I take comfort in all the good memories I have tucked away.

Working with Bill over the last few years was a great pleasure. Bill trained me when I went on the midnight shift and more recently, we had good conversations about a variety of subjects. We told a few jokes and had a few laughs while getting through our work day. Bill will be missed at Spencer.

Bill was a great man. He has rented at one of my properties for the past few years. Always had a smile on his face and was a pleasure to talk too. My thoughts are with the family on their loss.
