Obituary of William “Bill” Noel Stone
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of William (Bill) Stone.Beloved husband of Iris (nee Baillie) for 66 years. Loving father of Jeff (Mari), Judy (Mike) Redivivo, and John (Linda). Proud Grandpa/Pa of Kylee (Craig), Justin (Hannah), Noah (Melissa), Kala (Nigel), and Josh (Andrea), and great grandson Beckett. “Big” brother of Jim (Barb). A friend to his sisters-in-law Shirley (Tom) Riley, Tiny (Don predeceased) Hastings, Margie (Tom predeceased) Jackson, and Uncle Bill to many nephews and nieces. Predeceased by his parents Noel W. and Margaret I. (nee Newhouse) Stone.
Bill was born in St. Catharines and raised in Merritton on Oakdale Avenue where he developed lifelong friends and a passion for walks through the forests and fields. Some of his fondest memories of childhood were sitting in the forests of Burgoyne woods, watching the wildlife, and going for a swim in the local ponds and canals. It was a different era!
Bill worked for nearly 6 decades at Thompson Products/TRW, often bringing home stories created or shared by his friends. However, it often seemed that his favourite job was being a pin boy as a teenager, which led to his love of bowling.
Bill always had a big smile for his family, friends and anyone he met. That smile appeared the day before his passing upon holding his great grandson, Beckett, for the first time, as Bill was heading out of his Thorold home of 65 years for the last time.
His family would like to express their appreciation to the many medical professionals and support staff who provided compassionate care for Bill, as well as friends and neighbours who assisted in so many ways. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Bill’s life will be planned for a sunny spring day. If you desire, a donation to a charity that reminds you of Bill would be welcomed.

Dear Iris and family. Thinking of you with deepest sympathies at this sad time. My Uncle Gerry Petrunick always spoke so fondly of both you and Bill. I will let my Mom Ginny know. Take care. Nancy
Dear Mrs. Stone & Family,
We are sorry to hear about the loss of your husband, dad, grandpa & great grandpa. Bill was a long-time friend of my father Dan Burns. I want to share a story. We live on a busy street with many cars passing through. My dad and I were out front, a car drove by and honked the horn. I asked my dad who was that he replied, “I do not know, I think Bill Stone got a new car.” About ten minutes later my mother came out, she told us Bill Stone called and he has a new car. May your memories will help soften your loss. With deep sympathy.
The Burns Family
Feeling your pain in the loss of “Uncle Bill.” He was so gracious, kind and soft spoken. Although death is painful, you can reflect on the wonderful memories over the many years, and think about how fortunate you were to have such a great husband, father, grandfather to have shared your life with……Sending hugs.
Love from Tom and Jane Jackson
