Obituary of Wayne Douglas Lattamore

We are saddened to announce that on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at the age of 73, Wayne Douglas Lattamore passed away at the NHS-St. Catharines Site after a brief battle with cancer. He fought hard and handled it with grace. He has been reunited with his parents Mabel and Garnet Thomas and his sister Rhonda. He was a bestfriend and soulmate to Betty Ann, devoted father to Lisa Lattamore (Dennis Blonde), Tina Ramsey (Todd) and Wayne Lattamore Jr. (Daniela Palladino), cherished grandpa to Jaden (Sydney), Curtis, Tyler, Owen, Merlina and Junior. Left behind to tell his story are his loving family and friends; Fred (Penny), Laura, Shie (Pat), Noonie (Pete), Arnold (Carol), Theodore, JoAnn (Bob), Colleen (Denver) and Scott (Leonard). Wayne will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members in Ontario and in Nova Scotia.

Born in Nova Scotia, Wayne traveled to Ontario as a young boy where he made Niagara his home. Wayne was a force of nature whose love for life and family was matched only by his passion for golf and music. A legendary figure on the golf course, Wayne not only mastered the art of the perfect swing but also generously shared his passion with his grandchildren, making sure they caught the golfing bug as well. His love for family knew no bounds; he was always there to support his loved ones, whether it was cheering from the sidelines or lending a helping hand. In the 1960s, Wayne was the proud frontman of “The Younger Generation,” a band that played with all the zest and flair of the era. His impressive vocal talents, showcased in genres ranging from R&B and Motown to Jazz and Blues, often had him commandeering the mic at karaoke bars, much to the delight of audiences everywhere. His beautiful singing voice and natural charisma made him a standout performer, whether in front of a crowd or among friends.

Wayne was a devoted fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Seahawks, but his enthusiasm for sports extended to every game and team. His stories captivated friends and family alike. His long-lasting friendships, some spanning over 60 years, are a testament to his enduring spirit and genuine nature. A master storyteller with a sharp sense of humor, Wayne had a knack for making every gathering memorable. His legacy will live on through the countless stories he told, the laughter he inspired, and the many lives he touched. His family would like to send a sincere thank you to the Walker Family Cancer Centre, medical oncology unit at the St. Catharines Site and to Frank for taking Tito under his wing and providing him a home in Wayne's absence.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery and a celebration of Wayne’s life will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at The Delphi Banquet Hall 4414 Portage Rd, Niagara Falls, ON from 2:00 p.m until 5:00 p.m, where we will come together to honor a man who lived life to the fullest, with a heart as big as his laugh. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services in Niagara Falls.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice in Wayne’s memory.
