Obituary of Warren George Hale
It is with the deepest sorrow that the family of Warren George Hale shares that he is no longer with us in his earthly body,But we rejoice in knowing he is now at peace with our Heavenly Father in heaven awaiting our future arrival!
Warren was born in Verdun, Quebec October 5, 1944. He passed away on September 1, 2024, a month before his 80th birthday. He was enjoying retirement with his beloved wife Lynn in Niagara On The Lake before this dreadful cancer struck him down.
A good man! A man of integrity! An extremely intelligent man! A man of many interests! A quiet, kind man with a brilliant inquisitive mind!!
He is deeply loved by his wife Lynn, his two daughters Jodie Gadishaw and Karyn Hale and her husband Jon Gagol, his two sons Michael Summers, wife Lori, Jeffrey Summers, wife Jennifer and his brother Steve Hale and his wife Petra. As well as his nine amazing grandchildren: Madison, Noah and Miya Gagol, Jaden, Jackson, and Jordan Gadishaw, Ryan and Paige Summers, and Avery Summers. He will also be greatly missed by his extended family of nieces and nephews sisters and brothers in law and many friends, especially in Sun City, Georgetown, and Texas where he and Lynn spent many winters after retirement.
Warren was a Fellow Charted Accountant serving in many senior leadership positions at KPMG for over 40 years. He served as managing partner in three major offices across Ontario. He was the first Canadian Practice development Partner for KPMG in Canada and spent several years traveling the world discussing growth strategy in order to expand KPMG across Canada and internationally.
He was awarded his FCA in 1992. He served as President of The Institute of Chartered accountants of Ontario in 1995.
Warren loved hockey! He played University Hockey for Concordia University. Then he became ultimately involved in refereeing and, with the help of NHL referees, started The Canadian School of Hockey Refereeing in Quebec to assist minor league officials upgrade their skills.
Warren was a man of service valuing his faith, his family and his community. He had a special love of The Boys and Girls Clubs and served as President of The Boys and Girls Clubs of Ontario in 1995-1996. He served on many volunteer boards in Kitchener, Waterloo and London, Ontario for Orchestra and Art. He and his fellow associates in London Ontario helped transform the Ribfest from a few trucks to a featured festival every year benefiting the Boys and Girls Club.
Warren loved to travel! He especially enjoyed the researching and detailed planning of these trips which took him and Lynn to many amazing destinations around the world where they just walked and explored until COVID stopped them!
A mission trip to Kenya, Africa in 2009 was a highlight of their life. He and his associates at KPMG in Toronto raised enough money to purchase 4,000 goats for the villagers around Mully Children's Family for children outside of Nairobi, Kenya.
He also enjoyed cooking, creating wonderful dishes in his kitchen for family and friends. There was always a bowl of soup in the freezer or a sandwich for someone ill or hungry.
There will be a private farewell for Warren. Please remember him by Donating to The Mark Preece House in Hamilton, a wonderful place for families of adult patients to stay when they are from outside the Hamilton area or to Hospice Niagara who cared for him so lovingly in his final days.

Hello My name is Linda Gardner and I am the little girl in this photo. The little boy is Warren. He was my cousin. You don’t know how long I have been looking for both him and his brother, Steven. And then lo and behold I come across this obituary It grieves me that I couldn’t have found him sooner so that we would have had a chance to connect. It sounds as if he had a very, full and successful life and for this I was so happy to read. We were very close as children right up until I moved to Vancouver and the last time I had contact with him he was in Florida and Steven was in Calgary. That would have been in the late 60’s early 70’s. So Steven if you read this and would like to connect with me I would really like that. My last name now is Telford and have added the first name Maya to my moniker. I live in North Vancouver.
Warren was that rare human being, an authentic and generous leader who took a genuine interest in those he chose to work with. Because he believed in me and what I could bring to KPMG, he took a chance. It changed my life and allowed me to give my family a tremendous quality of life. In Warren I lose a friend and a mentor.
My heartfelt condolences go out to Lynn and the family.
I was so sorry to hear of Warren’s passing. He was such a good man. A nice man. He had the best blue eyes and the best joking manner. He loved my oatmeal cookies and I enjoyed a shrimp salad that he made me for lunch. Sending love to Lynn and Warren’s family and friends. Patti Bauer and family.
Some 35 years ago Warren was brought into the London KPMG office as managing partner. I was a manager at the time, I appreciated working with him, his treating everyone well and with respect, and the support he gave me. The experiences and the conversations have popped into my head off and on over the years and I expect they will continue to do so. My condolences.
Lynn and family,
Please accept my sincere condolences on Warren’s passing. I was very blessed to have been part of Warren’s marketing crew at KPMG’s North York office. He was a wonderful boss who always had great stories or a funny line to share. There was a lot to admire about Warren.
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.
Lynn and Family,
It was with great sadness that I learned today of Warren’s passing. What a fabulous human being! I was so fortunate to get to know Warren at KPMG, and share the MCF trip to Kenya with Warren and Lynn. I have such fond memories of sitting together by the river for an evening drink, watching the hippos! I am sure with Warren in heaven he will make the stars shine a little more brightly….because laughter and light always traveled with him.
You are all in my thoughts.
Susan Lockwood
I was fortunate to spend several years working closely with Warren in KPMG’s Waterloo office and kept in touch when we both moved back to Toronto. Warren was a pleasure to work with, full of energy and creativity., and I only wish I had more opportunities to get together once we retired. Lynn, please accept our condolences, and we wish you and your family all the best in the years ahead.
Lynn & Family,
Saddened & shocked to hear of Warrens passing. He was truly a wonderful man who loved life and lived it to the fullest. We’ll always remember the wonderful dinner he prepared ….as he said that evening there’s hot curry dishes & then there’s mine. Thoughts and prayers are with you all at this most difficult time. May he rest in peace.
We were saddened to hear about Warren’s passing. We moved across the street from Lynn and Warren when they were living in Toronto. They embraced us immediately and made us feel welcomed to the neighbourhood. We became friends. Warren was an amazing cook and we were lucky enough to have shared many meals together. Good food, good wine, good conversation, good friends. We missed them terribly when they moved. We send our sincere condolences to Lynn and the whole family.. We hope that your wonderful memories comfort you during this time.
Warren was a great teammate at Concordia. I never had to worry about my wellbeing when we were on the same shift. Very special to have reconnected at Thornhill Golf Club for golf and to have experienced his hospitality and culinary skills..So happy our paths crossed. Thank you Warren.
Lynn, I love you, girl. You and Warren were blessed in many ways. We were blessed to have known Warren & you.
I was a partner of Warren’s at KPMG and although our practices were such that we did not do a lot of professional work together we became very good friends throughout our careers which continued in our respective retirements. Warren was a superb professional and an all round great guy. We both retired to Niagara-on-the-Lake and so got to continue the closeness of our friendship. Fortunately for me and my wife Lynne, we were able to visit Warren and Lynn in latter days of his illness. He was still the epitome of a professional in the way he handled his illness. and the love and respect he and Lynn had for each other was on display. He is to be admired for his contributions to KPMG while working and to his community in his retirement. I am thankful and blessed we were friends!!
Warren, I would say Rest in Peace but you were never one to rest so I am sure you will be helping someone,
