Obituary of Vivian Georgina Lougheed (nee Fisher)

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family on December 17, 2022 in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Arnold, who passed away on December 22, 2022 in their 70th year of marriage. Loving mother to Cheryl Dear (David Potts), Lori Lougheed-Bajt (Frank Bajt), and Andrew Lougheed (Laurie). Adored Grammy to Simon Bajt, Jason Dear (Vanessa), Taylor Dear, Stuart Dear, Tyler Lougheed and Jaime Lougheed. Vivian was born the eldest of seven children to the late George and Rena Fisher. She leaves behind her much loved siblings: William (Mary), the late Gordon (Joan), Kathleen (the late Bill), Mary, Sandra (Carman) and Doris (Rick). Dear sister-in-law to May (the late Howard). Predeceased by her son-in-law Randy Dear and her granddaughter Alexandra Bajt.

Vivian was born on June 20, 1933 in Lobo, Ontario. At the age of 17 she met Arnold, and they married on her 20th birthday. Vivian worked in the Bank of Montreal (BMO) alongside Arnold in their early years together. Once she had children, she focused on her family, and with each transfer that Arnold accepted throughout his career, she created a new home with her family and established herself in each community. Vivian was involved in volunteer work throughout her life; she eventually returned to college and worked for many years as a Health Care Aide with the Red Cross in Niagara Falls where she was highly regarded for her compassionate care. She enjoyed entertaining and was an excellent cook and baker. She had many talents and pursued hobbies including pottery, painting, sewing, home décor and gardening. She was an elder in the church and was a longstanding member of each church choir alongside Arnold. Spending time with family and friends was very important to Vivian; she will always be remembered for her love and devotion.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Dialysis Units in the Niagara Health System (NHS) that provided care to Vivian over the last 2 ½ years. Special thanks to Dr. Jayawardene, and the caring staff at the Royal Henley Retirement Community, and to the care team at NHS-St. Catharines.

In keeping with Vivian's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held for Vivian and Arnold on Saturday, January 28th at 11:00 AM at Knox Presbyterian Church, 53 Church St, St. Catharines. If desired, memorial donations may be made to The Canadian Red Cross, The Salvation Army, or a charity of choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services.

Vivian and Mom (Corinne Lewis) shared many fun times together. I recall a shopping excursion to Elmira Buggy Works, in the heart of Mennonite country, to choose a cutter (sleigh) for one of our horses. Vivian was adorned wearing her bright red lipstick. This was her signature.💄We have many fond memories of Vivian and Arnold❤️
