Obituary of Vasile “Bill” Tudorache

Our hearts broke as we said goodbye, and there wasn't a moment that we weren't by your side. Peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2024, you took your last breath yet remained strong until the very end at the wise age of 85. Devotion and love were shared through a lifetime of memories with your beloved wife, your sweetheart, Lucretia “Lucy”. As a father, you were always there to lend a hand or an ear; Catalin (Nancy) knows how proud you were of your family, and will be remembered for the joking moments. The world’s greatest cheerleader and a grandpa who was always encouraging and invested in the well-being of his grandchildren, he will be forever remembered by Stefan, Trent, Victoria, and Evan. A dear brother-in-law of Lucian (Emilia), Gheorghe (Ecaterina), and Sergiu (Madalina), he will be missed by many nephews, nieces, extended family, and by his little furry buddy, Oliver. Our family finds comfort in knowing that Bill has been reunited with beloved son Valentine “Val” (2015), and with his parents Elizabeth Muller, whom he cherished, and his father Gicu.

As we reflect on Bill’s story and legacy, the roots of his life started in Romania. This is where he met the love of his life, Lucy, and they started their family. With the hope of having more opportunities, Bill and Lucy set their goals to move to Canada. Not able to make this move at the same time together, Lucy bravely arrived in Canada on her own, and Bill was able to immigrate to Canada three years later in 1974, with their young sons in tow.

Settling in Edmonton, Alberta, with this new life and opportunity came a big responsibility that Bill remained committed to. His impeccable and hardworking drive was for his family. In 1975, he started working for CW Carry Ltd, and after a 30-year career without ever missing a day of work (which he was very proud of and received recognition for), he eventually retired.

In his retirement, Bill made the most of his life, spending it with his family and watching his grandchildren grow. He enjoyed all sports, his favourite being soccer, and you could count on him knowing all the current stats. During these golden years, Bill and Lucy would travel to Florida and enjoy family vacations, his favorite visiting Walt Disney World. You could count on Bill to know what was happening in the world; he enjoyed listening to pop music, with Edward Sheeran’s song ‘Perfect’ that he and his sweetheart often danced together to. Bill even found pleasure in keeping up to date with the latest celebrity gossip and news, and loyally watching games shows, especially the ‘Price Is Right’.

His marriage with Lucy was set on a foundation of love and adoration. They shared laughter that echoed through the years, teasing each other with their special jokes and a sparkle in their eyes. As a couple, each had a unique role: he, the orchestrator of her collections, turning chaos into order, always there to support and be by her side.

In 2017, Bill and Lucy moved from Alberta and arrived in Niagara Falls, Ontario to be closer to their son Catalin (Nancy) and family. Over the past 7 years, Bill and Lucy settled into their home and would enjoy their daily walks and road trips, driving past Niagara Falls; of course, Bill had the important task of being Lucy’s GPS and navigator around town.

Those who knew Bill will remember him for his laid-back and easy-going personality. He loved the motto Hakuna Matata, which means ‘no worries’ and lived and shared this reminder on a daily basis with his loved ones. Above all, Bill took the greatest pride in watching his family blossom and achieve their own successes and accomplishments. Bill would often joke and say Moses told him he would live 800 years. The best part of this was that he would have gladly done so as he was happy, loved his life, and the people in it.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Barbara and Brian Hitsman for their special care and support and kind words and ‘waves’ in Bill’s final days.

In accordance with Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a gathering will be held at Essentials Cremation and Burial Services, 4300 Drummond Road, Niagara Falls, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers and in honour of Dad’s philosophy of doing something kind for someone else, please buy a coffee for the person in front of you at Tim Hortons or say hello with a smile to someone you meet on the street.

Hakuna Matata, Dad.

A beautiful obituary for a life well-lived. I didn’t know Vasile (Bill) but cherish the years that I’ve worked with and known his son – and my friend, Catlin. Much love to you Catlin, Nancy, Victoria and Evan, grandma Lucy and the rest of the Tudorache family.

In loving memory ...
I/we pledge to make a memorial donation.

Liviu will truly be missed. I was very close to him and to Lucretia. Not missing a day of work shows how loyal and devoted he was. The story of his life was bittersweet for me to read. I’ll cherish the fond memories I have of him. Hasta la vista Liviu. That’s how we usually ended our phone conversations. Hakuna matata!
