Obituary of Tom Ward
With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Tom Ward on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at the NHS-Niagara Falls Site. Tom was 80 years old. He has been reunited with his parents Bill and Etta Ward (née Cowan), his sisters Peggy (Bob) and Shirley (Jim), mother-in-law Charlotte MacDonald and Norma "Doda" Fenton. He leaves behind his beloved wife of almost 59 years, Jeanette Ward (née MacDonald), his devoted sons Darren (Tracy) and Blair (Lisa), his cherished grandsons Ethan (Taylor) and Parker, his dear sisters-in-law Noreen Limbert (Gary) and Norma Barber (John) as well as many nieces and nephews.Tom worked diligently at the Ontario Paper Company for the entirety of his career, retiring in 2002 after many years of dedicated service. He was known for his steadfast nature and his unwavering dedication to his family. He took great pride in his work and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid fisherman, Tom cherished his time spent at Rice Lake, where he enjoyed relaxing and casting a line with his loved ones. His passion for the outdoors extended to gardening and meticulous lawn care, reflecting his commitment to maintaining a beautiful home for his family.
As a devoted grandfather, he was a cornerstone of love and support for his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. His seriousness was always tempered by his deep affection and pride in his family. He would often be found cheering at Merrittville Speedway or spending time working in the yard, always with his family by his side.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services in Niagara Falls. A celebration of Tom's life will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Niagara Dog Rescue or to the Greater Niagara Humane Society, two organizations that were near and dear to Tom's heart.
