Obituary of Todd Mayer

June 30th, 1981 - February 7th, 2024

It is with the deepest love and sorrow that we mourn the passing of Todd Terrence Keith Mayer. Todd passed away after a long-fought battle, which was one of the few fights he could not overcome. Todd was born and raised in the Niagara Region, which is where he resided the majority of his life. He spent most of his adulthood as a roofer, a career that he loved, as he was always proud to show off his handiwork. He was an extremely talented athlete, and loved and excelled at the game of basketball. He would spend every moment he could of his years growing up on the basketball court, perfecting his skills and techniques. Todd loved his family fiercely; he was their ultimate cheerleader and protector. He always had the ability to light up every room he walked into with his smile and laughter. He is survived by his children Hayley and Matthew Gravelle, his father Jillian Mayer, his grandmother Mary Arnold, his brothers and sisters Lyndsay, Shawn (Kristen), Trisha (Patrick), and DJ (Stephanie), as well as many greatly loved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his partner Bernadette (Bernie) Hayes, and his mother Lori-Jane Strobridge, both of whom he is now at peace with.

A private interment will be taking place. A Celebration of Todd's Life, will be held on Friday, March 8th at 6pm, held at Canadian Corps Unit 44, 7 Clairmont Street, Thorold. A special thank you to all the staff at Essentials Cremation and Burial Services for their outstanding show of warmth and support during this difficult time. While flowers are welcome, the family also asks that anyone looking to make a donation in his memory, may do so by donating to Community Addiction Services of Niagara.

Todd, I’m sad to hear of your passing. I’m sitting here in my car now reading this obituary thinking of the good times we had together, you had a huge heart and you were an amazing friend. I have a silver chain with a cross pendant you gave me that I keep hanging on my rear view mirror in my car, it’s been there for the last three years or so. You will never be forgotten in my heart.

Until we meet again my friend, rest in paradise.

It truly warms my heart to see the amount of love coming in for Todd. ????????He was well-known & very much loved. Todd has the biggest heart & would help anyone with anything anytime… No matter Todd’s struggles he put everyone first. My heart is just shattered , I dont have words for this pain. ???? I will so miss his jokes , his smile , & his silliness!! Trying to find a decent photo for this Obituary seemed impossible as everything was jokes with this guy! So many battles Todd faced , and yet never lost one ,only gaining is wings & now at peace. My brother???????? , please stay by myside as my protector as you always did & know I love youuu ❤️ until we meet again !

Todd was a great guy and an even greater friend. It is with great regret to read about his passing. I can’t think of one time that I was around this great young man where he ever failed to make everyone smile and feel the warm and positive energy that was always around him. Todd, I wish I could have had the chance to say goodbye to you, your death comes as a big surprise, however I hope your soul is at rest with your mom as well as Bernie you will all be missed and forever be remembered! Rest In Peace my good friend!

When I was a kid I used to say this prayer every night and I feel it appropriate now. “Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I die before I wake. I pray the Lord my soul to take”. You’re now with the Angels Todd and your demons have been expelled. Fly free like a bird. Even though we were far apart Blood is Blood! Say hi to your Mom and Chrissy for us! RIP

You will be missed little cousin. My hart is with you and your family Todd.
You battled with this last battle for over 20 years. That in its self is a sign of the fire you hold inside of you. To fight such a thing is not at all easy and for this reason you will always remembered as a man that can do much more than others!
I will always have and hold onto the fond memories I have of you and your family and what I was able to learn from you.
