Obituary of Thomas John Tirone

It is with great sadness and loving memories that the family of Thomas Tirone announces his passing on December 5, 2022, at the age of 61, after a short but hard fought battle against cancer. He will forever be remembered by his wife, of 36 years, Catherine, daughter Laura (Ryan) and their children Charlotte and Leah, his sons Jim (Brianne) and Joe (Kayla), his sisters Linda (the late Al), Marie (Mark), Susan and Laura and many extended family members, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Leah, and sister, Diane.

Tom will be remembered for his unwavering strength, determination, deep love and commitment to his family. He had an incredible work ethic with a tremendous sense of loyalty, responsibility and drive. Tom was always teaching new things and solving problems during his 36 year career in the corn wet-milling industry. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on his classic cars, especially with his sons, tending to his vegetable garden, spending time at his parent's cottage, fishing, waterskiing, listening to classic rock, making homemade pizza playing, coaching and watching soccer.

The family would like to thank the incredible people at Niagara Health who provided Tom with exceptional care and compassion. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of his life will take place at St. Mary Parish, 90 Griffith St., Welland. Mass will take place on Tuesday, December 13 at 10:30 am followed by an Inurnment at Holy Cross Cemetery, 50 Woodlawn Rd. Welland. Memorial donations may be made to the Walker Family Cancer Center, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Salvation Army.

Both of us worked with Tom at Casco for over 24 years, and we have only the highest of praise for him. Tom was considered a friend as well as a co-worker, and he will be greatly missed. Cathy, please accept our sincere condolences, and know that life will get better, in time.

My deepest condolences to the Cathy and the entire Tirone family. I was only able to work with Tom for a few years and was always impressed by his knowledge, dedication, and easy going personality. Tom truly left us before his time and will be dearly missed.

Cathy, Laura, Jimmy, Joe & All Of Your Loved Ones. You are in my Heart & Prayers for Comfort, Strength & Peace. It is a rare gift to be able to improve the lives of others just by being yourself. Tom is one those exceptional gifts from God. Time passes too quickly & I know I fail to take the time to appreciate the people around me & what they bring to my life. Tom was such a source of strength, integrity, intelligence, loyalty, unwavering support & a treasured confidant. Friend, colleague & my son’s favourite soccer coach. Thank you Cathy & Family for so generously sharing Your Tom with all of us. Love, Blessings & Prayers Johnny Mac

It is with great sadness that I send my heartfelt condolences to you, the family of a person I had the privilege to work with at Casco. Tom was always a man that could be counted on. He could listen, understand and be counted on to help with business and personal concerns. When I worked with Tom I considered him a friend. I will remember Tom as a special person who cared and respected others. He will be missed.

Words fail to express my appreciation for Tom. His depth of character, genuine spirit and warm soul resonated with me and will continue to be a source of inspiration. One always knew that in what he said and did, family came first. Tom’s talent extended beyond devotion to his family, I’ve much enjoyed discussing our various shared interests. Always thoughtful, responsible and driven.
Thank you Tirone family for Tom, a most remarkable gentleman, Christian, friend and brother-in-law. Forever remembered with a smile and with love.
