Obituary of Theresa Koabel

The family of Theresa Koabel (née Bauer) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of their beloved mother, on March 6, 2026, with family by her side.

Theresa has been reunited with her late husband, Lawrence, and her parents, Mary and Frank Bauer. She will be deeply missed by her children, Marilyn (Art), Theresa (Rob), Marie (Dan), Jimmy (Darlene), and Christine (Steve), as well as her 35 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Theresa's siblings, Mary (Ben, predeceased), Katharina (Tony), Frank (Judy), and sister-in-law Ann Koabel will also mourn her loss. Her close friendships with Aldo, Carol, and Anne, as well as her numerous nieces, nephews, and acquaintances, will be cherished.

Theresa's passion for music was evident in her love of singing, dancing, and attending concerts in Chippawa with friends. She also enjoyed crocheting and, most of all, spending time with her family. Notably, Theresa maintained her independence by driving until the age of 89. Her warm smile had the power to illuminate any room, making everyone feel welcome. Theresa's optimism and kindness inspired those around her, as reflected in her frequent sayings, “Oh well,” and “It will all come out in the wash.”

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Aldo for always being there, Carol for being an angel on earth taking care of her while at home and Anne for their unwavering support; the staff at Greater Niagara General Hospital in Unit D for their exceptional care; and Dr. Rohani and Dr. Dang Nguyen for their dedicated attention.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation may be made in memory of Theresa. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday March 26, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 3882 Main St, Niagara Falls, at 1pm with a luncheon to follow in the lower hall. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
