Obituary of Thera Ophidia Martin

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt and friend. Thera Ophidia Martin passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She will be forever loved and remembered by her children; Chiara Marzilliano, Slate Martin, her partner Michael Martin, and by her parents Mansoor and Indra Ali. Thera was a loving sister of Crystal (Aaron) Turpin, Purdey Ali, and Dr. Zerah (Jacqueline) Ali. She will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews; Xzarah Ali, Zoe & Wyatt Turpin, Rian & Maxime Ali, and also by her aunts, uncles and cousins; Yasmin & Farzan Rajab, Roma & Ronald Deonarine, Nisa Mohamned, Umar & Mayara Singh, and all of their families.

Thera entered this world on August 21, 1974, in Trinidad, and later relocated to Canada with her family during her childhood. She pursued her education in dental assisting at the Ontario College of Health and Business, where she successfully obtained her certificate. Beyond her professional pursuits, she held a deep affection for animals and embraced a passion for exploring the world. Her travels took her to various destinations, including Cuba, Costa Rica, Europe, Turks and Caicos, and the British Virgin Islands, among others.

When we think of Thera, our family will remember her for kind nature and generous heart. She had a delightful sense of humour, a fearless spirit and a brilliant mind. She will be missed beyond words could ever express.

Arrangements have been entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. Cremation will be taking place and a private family service will be held. In memory of Thera, memorial donations may be given to The Salvation Army.
