Obituary of Teresa Stalis

Niagara Falls, Ontario – Teresa B. Stalis passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, in her 75th year. Teresa was well known by living on her own terms. She had a strong and sarcastic personality that few people understood but to those that did understand her, stood by her to the very end.

Born to the late Sophia Stalis on July 17, 1950, in Katowice, Poland, she and her mother later immigrated to Canada in 1958, to Oshawa, Ontario. She later moved to St. Catharines, Ontario to study Environmental Planning at Brock University.

Teresa will be dearly missed by her loving son Jorel, along with all her close friends Jenni, Leslie, Deanna, Marci, and Diane.

Teresa was an avid quilter. Making many spectacular quilts, and pillows of various sizes and shapes while winning awards in quilt shows for some of her work. Her patience and fine-eye for detail did not go unnoticed by many professional quilters in the area.

Teresa was a pet enthusiast. Always having dogs or cats by her side for as long as she could.

Teresa was very involved and passionate with the Block Parent Program for many years. Eventually serving as Vice Chair for the Board of Ontario and Director for the Board of Canada. Teresa was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 for her work in revising the program’s by-laws to meet the requirements of the new Canada Corporations Act.

We thank the staff at Chippawa Creek at Bella Care Residence that cared for her over the last three years. We also would like to thank the staff of the Greater Niagara General Hospital that cared for her with compassion and empathy in her final days.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services Inc. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place.
