Obituary of Terence “Terry” Catney
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, Terry Catney. After a brave and courageous battle with cancer, Terry peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on May 11, 1944, Terry was one of fourteen children and immigrated to Canada in 1957. Terry spent his life working hard and giving to others. He was a selfless, humble, and caring man, who took pride in doing things right. He was a devoted husband to Sandra, a loving father to Denice (Keith) and Steven (Karen), and caring stepfather to Martin (Ritu), John (Linda), and Paul (Lorraine). He was a proud Granda to Liam, Aidan, Steven and Hayley and Grampa-Terry to Natasha, Nicholas, Declan, Liam, Blake, George and Viktorya. Terry is survived by his brother Eugene and his sister Muriel and families.Terry was a reluctant but die-hard Toronto Maple Leafs fan and was happiest when he was on the golf course with his Woofs (Worn Out Old Farts) and good friends at the NOTL golf club. A special thanks to Dr. Malik, Dr. Levesque and the health care team at St. Catharines Walker Family Cancer Centre and the LHIN palliative care team with a special note of thanks to Helen and Paul for their care and attention and for making Terry feel as comfortable as possible, especially in his last few days. A big thank you to the special community of friends, who are now family that made the time to visit and share memories and let Terry know the impact he had and the love that surrounded him when he needed it most. Lastly, a special mention to Ken and Karen Burr, Diane and Jim Ricci and Barney and Michael Tansley who have been incredible friends and were there every part of the journey with Terry and Sandra. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the St. Catharines Walker Family Cancer Centre. At Terry’s request there are no service details to be shared. Please keep him and our family in your thoughts and prayers.

My deepest condolences to the whole family and A heartfelt apology to Steohen, for burning the bridge between our friendship and not being there in your difficult time.
Terry was a great man. He was a pleasure to work with when we did house maintenance together for Alliance. I loved his stories of growing up in Belfast while we drove from job to job.

Sorry to hear about Terry. He was such a good friend and neighbour.. He will be missed in the Vineyards community.
It was so sad to hear of Terry’s passing. I got to know Terry at the golf course. Terry was such a kind and friendly friend. I often met him on Saturday mornings on the golf course. My wayward tee shots often came close to Terry’s group and we had a lot of fun talking about my golf problems!
Like Terry I have had prostate cancer so we did discuss the treatments we went through.
Terry was a special person who we will all miss. My condolences to the family.
Our condolences to Sandra and Family. Such a great person! Missed, not forgotten.
