In Loving Memory of
Suzanne (Sue) Martineau
1944 - 2022
Obituary of Suzanne (Sue) Martineau
December 2, 2022, at 8:05pm our beloved Suzanne (Sue) Martineau left us to claim her place in the spiritual world she knew awaited her. Her courageous battle was fought with grace, strength and without complaint, eventually coming to a peaceful end at Hospice Niagara in St. Catharines, Ontario. She was survived by her husband of over 55 years, Claude Martineau, son David Martineau (Laura), daughter Andrea Schuld (David), grandchildren Danielle, Erin, Logan and Brady, best friends Donna and Guido Martignago, her amazing “dog park” friends, her very dear Coal and countless other friends and family.Sue was born to Percival (Pete) and Phyllis Logee on April 19, 1944 in Red Lake, Ontario, eventually moving south to Kirkland Lake, Ontario where she raised her family and began her teaching career. Throughout the years Sue touched the lives of everyone she met, drawing them in with her giving nature and kind, gentle demeanour. She and her husband Claude then moved to Cornwall, Ontario, and eventually settled in Niagara-On-The-Lake where she was able to enjoy her family, friends and her treasured canine companion. She lived an inspired life of purpose, truly understanding that every day was a gift and not to be taken for granted. She was so proud of her children and her grandchildren and made sure everyone knew how special they all were to her. Simple, daily trail walks took on a higher meaning for her and resulted in so many wonderful friendships. Sue was able to find beauty where others could not and she held on to her faith in the most difficult of times.
In lieu of a funeral, a celebration of her life will be held on April 19th 2023 for her family and close friends in Niagara-On-The-Lake. If desired, memorial donations to Hospice Niagara would be appreciated.
Her loving spirit will never be forgotten.

Sue was like a very, very precious big sister to me. From our very first meeting I knew I was oh so fortunate to have had met someone special and she was that and more. Her laughter was so sweet to hear and her imitation of speaking like one of the Beatles while telling a joke had me in stitches. Her love of her animals was so endearing to me. I still remember like it was yesterday her walking Roxy with a stuffie in its mouth as I walked alongside her.. She also had a most beautiful singing voice and another one of my fondest memories is singing along with her (although I can’t sing) while Claude played Lemon Tree on the guitar. I wish Claude and her family well and send them love and deeply apologize for my lateness in these condolences.
Dear Claude, David, Andrea and family, as well as the many friends that Sue shared with throughout the years …we express our most sincerest of condolences on her passing.
Sue, truly epitomized God’s Gift to everyone she came in contact with, including her pets..til present, her dearest pup “Coal”
Sue was “That very special Gift that just kept on giving.”…………..
She is now in her Lord’s Eternal Care, at Peace, and free from all sufferings.
Sue truly leaves a legacy, a landscape of compassion and love. She touched an abundance of hearts, exemplifying selflessness, and determination, true attributes to be passed on with memories to be treasured.
Her positivity, and living Faith has definitely left this world a much better place.
Both my husband and I have been fortunate to have shared over 6 decades with Sue, our dearest friend, so very missed, loved and forever cherished

For Claude, David, Andrea and families….it is with a heavy and sad heart that I write these words. Suzanne was my very dearest friend in the world….we met many decades ago in grade six at Queen Elizabeth Public School in Kirkland Lake Ontario…I gave her a big smile and thereafter we remained friends for life. Her kindness and humour was unparalleled! We laughed till we cried. I and my family were blessed to be able to have visited her in Hospice. We will be making a donation to them in her memory. Will miss her Forever. Lily,Sonia,Brian and Ben.
Claire and Terry,
Thank you for the kind words. My mom was very happy to have been able to talk with you again and reminisce about her teaching years. Her reconnection with you was cherished.
Andrea
Dear Claude, David , Andrea and families,
It was such a special gift to have reconnected with Sue over this last year. We had very special memories of the teaching years we had together at Holy Name School in KIrkland Lake. I felt a very strong spiritual connection as we shared our faith in lovely letters. I am truly sorry for the great loss you must be feeling but trust completely that Sue is in a very happy and content place without pain or suffering of any kind. I’m so very grateful for her in my life. She has enriched me. God speed Sue!

Thank you Warren and Cleda. She spoke so fondly of both of you and often talked about how much you laughed together. I’m so glad you were able to see her recently and reminisce and laugh again. The donation and kind words are appreciated.
Claude, David, Andrea and families,
We were saddened to hear of Sue’s passing on December 2nd and extend to all of you our deepest sympathies. As you know, in spite of never living. In the same city or town, Sue and I (Warren)) we’re the closest of cousins. Our bonding must have started on that infamous trip our parents made back in 1947 or 1948 when the eight of us piled into a 4 door sedan to begin a new life out west! Uncle Pete often said to me I was the brother Sue never had. What a complement!
In our last conversations after Sue entered hospice care, we reminisced about our many visits and good times we experienced over our lifetime. We made one another laugh until we cried! Cleda and I were so grateful we were able to experience another visit with you Claude and Sue this past summer. I know Sue felt she had the best care possible at the hospice and we will be making a donation to them in her memory.
Love from Warren and Cleda Reeves and family.
