In Loving Memory of

Sterling Leslie Britt Jr.

1942 - 2022

Obituary of Sterling Leslie Britt Jr.

After a long and courageous fight, Sterling "Sonny" Britt left this world on Tuesday, May 3 2022 peacefully and surrounded by love, to be reunited with his beloved wife Patricia (née Jessome). He leaves behind his loving children: Kelly, Kathy (Enzo) and Sterling (Kassandra), his cherished grandchildren: Craig Jr, Brittney (Tyler), Sterling, Justin, Jordon, Mary, Brice, McKenna, Kaiden and Kowen, also his adored great grandchildren: Haley, Paisley, Layla, Jacob and Cameron. Memories from Sonny's childhood will live on with his siblings: Evelyn, Gloria, William, Barbara and Randy (Cheryl). He will also be thought of fondly by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was greeted on the other side by his parents Sterling (1980) and Bernice (2000), his brothers-in-law Robert (2006) and Freddie (2003) and son-in-law Big Craig (2014)

Sonny was a quiet man but loved to be around people and have a good time. He enjoyed poker nights with his family and going to his favourite hang out, The West Hill Tavern (Jo Blo's), where his friends became family to him. He was often referred to as a "dapper" gentleman. In his younger years, you could find Sonny on the baseball diamond playing for "The Boys" or on the hockey rink playing goalie for "The Old Dogs". He has always been an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching many sports including curling, tennis and golf but never missed the chance to cheer on his favored teams the Calgary Flames, the Toronto Blue Jays and the San Francisco 49er's.

Sonny enjoyed many years of employment as a tool setter for General Motors until his retirement in 1994. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Sonny was blessed to spend his final months at home with his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren who selflessly and with compassion honored and cared for him.

Guests will be welcomed by his family to visit at Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905 354 2133) on Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Cremation to follow. A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022 with a Celebration of Life to follow at Jo Blo's 155 St. Paul Crescent, St. Catharines, ON at 2 p.m. His family would like to extended a sincere thank you to Sonny's nurses: Babes from St. Elizabeth and to Melissa from Paramed for their care and compassion in his final days. If desired, donations to The Walker Family Cancer Centre or to the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital would be appreciated by his family.

Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. I have memories of time spent with your family at Echo Lake and in St. Catherine’s when I was young. My Dad has always told stories of the trouble he got into with his siblings and Britt cousins. May your memories bring you comfort.

Condolences,
