Obituary of Simon Lionel Fortin
Suddenly, on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, Simon Lionel Fortin was reunited with his beloved wife, Joy Fortin (2022) at the age of 64. Simon is survived by his children whom he loved dearly, Bianca Sbrizzi (Tim) and Stephen Fortin (Courtney), his adored grandchildren, Chanel Sbrizzi (Michael Hammond), James Sbrizzi (Rebecca Hatt), Jolie Fortin, and Rochelle Fortin, as well as many nieces and nephews that he cherished.Simon dedicated many years of his life as a truck driver and enjoyed the freedom of the open road in his Mustang with his dear wife. He reveled in the simple pleasures in life such as Chinese food lunches and a good home cooked meal. He was fond of spending time with his beloved brothers Eugene (2015), Richard and Paul. He greatly valued their camaraderie and treasured their friendship. His moments of relaxation often included calling his friends on his phone to chat and time spent in the garage puttering around while listening to Classic Rock.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services in Welland. His family invites you for a time of remembrance and support on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Fonthill Legion Branch 613, located at 141 Hwy 20 E, Fonthill. Visitation will begin at noon, followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. and then an opportunity for fellowship and refreshments. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you consider making a donation to the Greater Niagara Humane Society in honour of Simon, who loved dogs including his cherished Wheaten Terrier Leila (2019). I just found this, very sad and sending my condolences. i grew up with Simon in Niagara out on Beechwood. When I was 5 years old he convinced me to sell him my tricycle for a dollar. My mother sorted it out later, but clearly at an early age he had a zest for life. Devil-may-care, daredevil would be the best words to describe him. There was a small band of us that lived up at the “corner” and as fate would have it, went our seperate ways in our late teens. Once again, my condolences to all.
So sorry for your loss. I had a mass said or him by father Chris at Mount Carmel monastery.
My dearest friend Bianca and family,
