What Makes A Mother
So now you see what makes a Mother.
It’s the feeling in your heart.
It’s the love you had so much of
Right from the very start
-Author unknown

It Is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sharleen Thelma Farrington in her 83rd year on Monday October 14th 2024 at Bella Senior Care Residence. Sharleen passed away with her family at her side and hands to hold.

Cherished wife of the late Herbert for 63 years. Mother of Ron (Linda), Ken (Cheryl), Terry (the late Barry) and David (Cindy). Grandmother to Erin, Amanda, Jennifer, Ryan, Adam, Jordan, Tess, Sara and Griffin. Sharleen also is survived by 8 great-grandchildren. Sharleen leaves behind brothers-in-law Peter More, Jack Macmillan and Louis Willick. Predeceased by stepbrothers Orville and Gary Phelps and stepsisters, Betty, Evelyn, Gloria, Nancy, Marilyn, Lois, Louise, Charlotte, Lorraine and Shirley. Mom was part of a big family and her capacity for love was shown to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mom can be best remembered as a fixture at the Orange Julius in Niagara Square for many years developing lifelong friendships that she cherished. She loved to work and keep herself busy and she did so right up until the passing of Dad. Mom loved to spend weekends with Dad, taking their corvette to car shows and meeting new people. Neighbors will remember Mom as being kind, caring and always available for a helping hand. Special thanks to my sister Terry, and wife Cindy for all the support over the last 17 months navigating the loss of Dad and Mom’s condition as it got worse. We couldn’t have done this alone.

We would like to extend our appreciation to the staff, nurses and PSW’s at Bella that cared for Mom in her final months. We also would like to express our gratitude to the staff at the GNGH Rainbow unit for the loving care they provided during Mom’s transition to Long Term Care.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral will take place. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date as we look forward to celebrating both Mom and Dad together, honoring and remembering all the good times we have shared.

Funeral Arrangements and care have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services.

In the end, we all become stories and Shar’s story has and will touch so many souls. To know her is a truly enduring love story and when I was the one experiencing her magic, it is a story I would never want to end.

Sharleen took me under her wing as family and gave the gift of her love for community without hesitation. Together, with Herb, we have so many moments to look back on and smile. Moments like “frozen potato chips” only come along once in a million. And I won the lottery with these two humans.

To be part of Shar’s (and Herb) family and love, I am deeply grateful and some of the best moments of my life came from Shar being Shar. I am quite sure her love for Herb and the rest of us will make this moment even more challenging. Sharleen you have found the best way to live forever. In the love you have created in others. Much love.

My sincere condolences to the Farrington family on the passing of Sharleen. I worked with both Herb & Sharleen at Canadian Tire so many years ago. They were both wonderful people to work with and were always kind. We shared many laughs over the years. R.I.P. Sharleen, you will be missed.
