Obituary of Sean Michael Hill

On Saturday, October 19, 2024, Sean, surrounded by his loved ones, passed away peacefully after a long, hard- fought battle with cancer. He was at peace knowing he was soon to be reunited with his father, Elwood Wallace “Spike" Hill (2001), beloved grandparents, Laurette (née Saumure) and Leo Lepage, Elizabeth Sampson and Reginald Wallace Hill.

Sean is survived by his wife, Laura (Pakulis) and son Maxwell, daughter Courteney, sons Connor and Dillon (mom Shelly Gianetto-Hill), daughter Cassidy (mom Jackie Grant) and son Jagger (mom Heather McLean), dear brother of Jen Burke (Brian), loving uncle to Madison and Gavin and lifelong best friends, Chris Legarde and Jeff Dillon.

Sean began his security career at Casino Niagara in 1996. In 2002, he played a fundamental role in developing and opening the security department at the newly founded Seneca Niagara Casino. By 2007, he was promoted to Director and in 2013 to Vice President of Security. He retired as Vice President of Security at Seneca Niagara Casino in 2015, and loved to reminisce and share stories from his working days. His infectious sense of humour brought light to every situation, reminding those around him of the importance of finding joy in every day and resilience in life’s difficult times.
As a proud Indigenous man, Sean cherished his time spent on the Reserve, Six Nations of the Grand River, in Ohsweken, where he found such peace in the beauty of the land and creating lasting memories filled with laughter and adventure with his children. His children were the light of Sean’s life and he beamed with pride at all of their accomplishments.
His family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at Hospice Niagara for their extraordinary care and compassion.

In keeping with Sean's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private celebration of life will be held in Sean's honour. Arrangements have been entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services in Niagara Falls.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice Niagara in Sean's memory.
