Obituary of Saverio "Sam" Scozzafava

Surrounded by love and support, Sam peacefully passed away at Greater Niagara General Hospital on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the age of 80. He has now been reunited with his beloved wife, Marisha “Maria.” Sam was a fun-loving and devoted father to John (Shannon) and a cherished Nonno to Jordan. He was also the dear brother of Maria, Rose, Joe (Josephine), and Josephine, and leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Sam was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Tony, Domenic and Joe.

Throughout his life, Sam had a strong entrepreneurial drive. He had started a couple of different businesses in Niagara Falls. He founded a restaurant and a museum, but it was in the world of hairdressing that he found his true passion and where even met his wife, Maria. He proudly operated two local salons over 40 years, one called the Pink Poodle and the other was Ultra Look. He will be remembered for his humor and wit, as Sam was always ready with the best one-liners. Beyond his professional life, Sam enjoyed playing cards, was an exceptionally good dancer, and would always enjoy a day at the races. Sam will be dearly missed by his family and friends. The void left by his absence is felt most profoundly by his son, John, as they not only shared a special father-son bond but were also best friends.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to friends who provided unwavering support throughout the years. They also wish to thank Chippawa Creek Care for their exceptional care over the past five years, as well as the nurses in the ICU at the hospital for their compassionate attention given to Sam during his final days.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. In accordance with Sam's wishes, cremation has already taken place. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Sam's memory.

Online condolences and tributes can be shared on Sam's tribute page, which can be found at EssentialsNiagara.com.
