Obituary of Samuel "Sam" McCloy

With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Samuel "Sam" McCloy in Lindsay, Ontario just weeks into his 68th year, on August 2, 2022. Sam will be missed by his loving children Sarah and Sean (Theresa). His grandchildren, Tyler (Anna), Olivia (Kacper), Alyssa, Antonio, Ava, Paige and Hunter will remember all the great times spent with their Papa. Sam will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his sisters Sharon (Steve), Phyliss, Linda (Mark), Debbie and Margaret and his brother Bill (Marlene) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Sam was welcomed to the other side by his sister Susan as well as his brothers-in-law Rene, Tom and Jack.

Sam was a dedicated employee at Dofasco Steel from 1980 until 1992 when he left the steel industry to become a plumber. He was employed with Thomas R. Birnie and Sons until he could no longer work. He was an avid sports fan and cheered for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Chicago Bears. He played ball hockey and had the position of goalie in his youth. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends while drinking an ice cold Labatt 50. He was a very social man with an amazing sense of humor. He will definitely be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Guests will be welcomed by his family at Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133) on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 7:00 p.m until 9:00 p.m. If desired, donations in Sam's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and would be appreciated by his family.

Sam was always fun. I have great memories as a child, with Sam as a bit of a father figure back then. Our families know each other really well, but it’s been many years since we all were together.
I saw Sam around 7 years ago in Hamilton and he knew who I was instantly. It had been decades since I had seen him before that. We vowed to get together again. That day never came, unfortunately.
Thanks for the laughs and great memories.
Your buddy, Kal

Sammy was fun! I remember him from elementary school, National Steel Car and sometimes our work lives crossed when he was a plumber. RIP Sammy
