Obituary of Ruth Taylor

The world grew quieter on October 30, 2025, as we said goodbye to our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Friend Ruth Diane Taylor in her 88th year. She was affectionately known by all as Little Nanny. A woman whose life was the definition of strength, selflessness, grace, humility and unyielding love. Her kindness was not loud, but steady and non-judgmental; a light that never dimmed even when life was hard. She spent her days giving of her time, her laughter, her wisdom, her heart and never expecting anything in return. Every act of love she gave was a seed planted and our lives are the gardens she left behind. Her joy was found in the happiness of others, especially her family. Her strength was quiet but fierce. To her, love was a daily act of devotion. And now, as we grieve, we understand what joy truly costs. The depth of our sorrow is the measure of the gift she was to us. Through every tear, we are reminded, how lucky we were to have had her in our lives.

Ruth is survived by her dear sister Helen Nuss, predeceased by her son Dwayne, parents Crawford and Mary Tufts and George Taylor. Adored mother of Jody Trendle (Benny), Beth Smith (Brian) and Coleen Skynner (Mark). Ruth leaves behind seven treasured grandchildren and nine great grandchildren who will cherish the many happy memories of the loving Nanny and Little Nanny they were lucky enough to have. All will carry forward her gift of compassion, resilience and unconditional love.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and Ruth’s wishes were that her family celebrates her life privately. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services in Niagara Falls.

Though her hands are no longer here to hold, her fingerprints are on everything good we do. Grief is the cost of joy and what a joy it was to have her.

Those wishing to honour Ruth’s life can make a donation to The Arthritis Society Canada, Diabetes Canada or Niagara SPCA and Humane Society.

I am shocked and saddened to read of Ruth’s passing. Jody, Beth, and Coleen, you have my deepest sympathy. I have known “Ruthie” my entire life, our Moms being lifelong friends. Of course we both had our separate lives but reconnected about 5 years ago. We did a lot of things together. She was one of the beautiful people of the world . We talked this past August and she made me promise to visit her, I did not get there having a few medical issues of my own. I regret not visiting her and am so sorry. I loved her. Heaven has a new angel I will make a donation in her name for the Humane Society. Gloria 905 894 0293
