Obituary of Roy Alexander Solomon

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Roy Alexander Solomon. As per his wishes, he passed away at home surrounded by family on January 31, 2026.

He was born in Sault Ste Marie to Violet Rubino and Roy Solomon Sr and was brother to Raymond, Janice, and Debbie. He spent most of his adult life “down south” in the Niagara Region where he raised three children, Meagan, Alexandra, and Jacob with our mother Lynn Solomon.

We could spend ages writing about him, but we will stick to what mattered most to our Dad.

His main goal in life was to have a loving, happy family, and he could not have been more successful in that regard. He was a wonderful father, and not a day went by where he didn’t express how much he loved us and his four grandchildren, Mica, Ariel, Ofir, and Harrison (Papa’s Boys).

He was so grateful to have travelled throughout his life and often explored a less-worn path. Notable trips to Taiwan, Turks and Caicos, Nicaragua and Costa Rica held a deep place in his heart and would often resurface in stories he shared with us. Roy was a dedicated cinephile, a passion he shared with Jake. In another life, he would have liked to have worked in film either onscreen or behind the scenes. To him, cinema was magical and helped him through a lot in life.

He was incredibly proud of his grandsons. He got so much joy from spending time with them. Whether it was a board game, a movie night or simply watching them play, he beamed with love when they were around. Papa will be greatly missed by all of them.

Roy loved to make others laugh, often going out of his way to crack a joke to brighten someone’s day. He kept his wild sense of humour until the very end and would love nothing more than to have friends and family share a laugh or a story on his behalf.

We loved him well; he brought us joy.

Take ‘er easy there, Pilgrim.

Oh my, Roy was a character. From the moment our family met him we loved him. He was so much fun to be around. He always made us laugh especially as he enjoyed his own jokes as much as we did. Roy will be missed by all. The Perricelli family sends our prayers and love to Roy’s family.
