Krystal Riddell Featured in Rotary Magazine
We’re proud to share that our founder, Krystal Riddell, has been featured in Rotary Magazine in the May 2026 article “After life, a return to the earth.”
The article explores the growing interest in green and conservation burial practices across North America, including the ways families are rethinking what meaningful and environmentally conscious end-of-life care can look like.
“The most important message is that families today have a variety of meaningful death-care options, and each family should feel empowered to choose what best aligns with their values, culture, and needs.”
Leadership in Green Burial Advocacy
As President of the Green Burial Society of Canada and founder of Essentials Cremation and Burial Services, Krystal has spent years advocating for funeral options that reflect families’ values, traditions, and environmental priorities.
More Choice for Families
That belief has shaped Essentials from the beginning. Families deserve clear information, compassionate guidance, and options that feel right for them — whether that includes cremation, traditional burial, or environmentally conscious choices like green burial.
Service Above Self
Krystal’s commitment to service extends beyond funeral care. She is a past president and board member of the Rotary Club of St. Catharines South and continues to support community initiatives throughout the Niagara Region.
She is also a proud member of the Paul Harris Society, a Sustaining Member, and participates in Rotary International’s Every Rotarian Every Year initiative.
Continuing the Conversation
Being recognized by Rotary Magazine is a tremendous honour, but what matters most is seeing more families, communities, and professionals talk openly about sustainable and personalized funeral care.
Congratulations, Krystal, on this well-deserved recognition. We’re proud of the leadership, compassion, and advocacy she continues to bring to families and communities across Canada.
